We are looking to expand our already successful Building Services Team by recruiting a Building Maintenance Technician with a masonry background, ideally specialising in roofing or plastering. The post holder will be working as part of our Building Services Team delivering works to our Housing Stock, within the responsive repairs team.
Typically our trade operatives opt to spread their hours between 7.30 and 4pm Monday to Thursday, allowing a 1pm finish on a Friday. Power tools are provided as well as a fully equipped van stock. We also have our own stores, and flexibility to buy materials from suppliers. Our operatives are provided with a company works vehicle, and there is currently an option to take this home with a fixed mileage rate deduction, within limits. Ongoing health and safety training is provided.
For this post you must be qualified to at least NVQ/City & Guilds Level 2 in Masonry, Maintenance or Construction Skills including Roofing and Plastering and have at least 5 years’ experience in a relevant industry. We would also consider those without formal qualifications, but with significant relevant experience and references.
It is essential that the post holder is both confident and self-motivated at all times with excellent customer communication skills. Previous experience of working in Social housing would be an advantage, and experience of mobile working solutions and hand held devices is desirable.
The housing repairs team prides itself on being a great place to work, and as such, we are keen to ensure that we get the right person for the role, and also that we are right for you. Many of our team here celebrating 10, 20, 30, even nearly 40 years with the Council Repairs service, which we hope is reflective of the supportive and friendly feel of the team. Flexible working also suits a great work-life balance.
