Mid Devon District Council has started preparing a new Local Plan that will bring forward homes, jobs, community facilities, and infrastructure to meet our needs while protecting a high-quality natural environment. The Local Plan will play a key role in planning for economic growth, responding to the climate emergency, and moving towards a net-zero carbon future.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a keen interest in geography and sustainable development to start their career as a Planning professional. You will help us plan for the future of the district through a reformed plan-making system, working in an attractive rural area close to Exeter, Dartmoor, Exmoor, the Blackdown Hills, and the coasts of North and South Devon.
The role involves monitoring the development of new homes and other uses, providing opportunities to gain experience across various projects, and engaging in networking and community involvement.
The successful candidate will have a degree in Planning or a related subject, with some relevant Planning experience preferred. Good written and verbal communication skills are essential, along with IT literacy, ideally including knowledge of MS Access and ArcGIS.
