We are seeking an enthusiastic, highly motivated and dynamic Maternity Support Worker to join our friendly & dedicated team.
You will be working within the Maternity Outpatients Department (ANC) and the Antenatal Day Assessment Unit. You will undertake a range of duties in the Maternity Outpatients setting under the supervision of a Registered Midwife. Your working week is essentially Monday‑Friday, with some weekends and bank holidays on a rota basis. Successful applicants will receive a comprehensive orientation programme and are assured that they will receive appropriate support and training to meet expected competencies.
Responsibilities
- Support midwives and the wider maternity teams in the Maternity Outpatients Department.
- Act as a chaperone during consultations and perform patient observations, documenting findings.
- Lead low risk consultations under the indirect supervision of Midwives and lead pre‑op assessment for elective caesarean.
- Execute Trust Venepuncture training and lead Glucose Tolerance Test clinics under indirect supervision.
- Run errands, provide administrative support, and transport samples as delegated by the Midwife in charge.
- Maintain clinical area cleanliness while clinics are in progress.
- Escalate concerns to the Midwife in charge.
Qualifications
- Computer literate, able to use Trust systems for documentation.
- Ability to complete Trust Venepuncture training and lead Glucose Tolerance Test clinics.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with patients, families and the maternity team.
- Capacity to work flexible hours, including weekends and bank holidays on a rota basis.
