We are seeking an enthusiastic, highly motivated and dynamic Maternity Support Worker to join our friendly & dedicated team.

You will be working within the Maternity Outpatients Department (ANC) and the Antenatal Day Assessment Unit. You will undertake a range of duties in the Maternity Outpatients setting under the supervision of a Registered Midwife. Your working week is essentially Monday‑Friday, with some weekends and bank holidays on a rota basis. Successful applicants will receive a comprehensive orientation programme and are assured that they will receive appropriate support and training to meet expected competencies.

Responsibilities

  • Support midwives and the wider maternity teams in the Maternity Outpatients Department.
  • Act as a chaperone during consultations and perform patient observations, documenting findings.
  • Lead low risk consultations under the indirect supervision of Midwives and lead pre‑op assessment for elective caesarean.
  • Execute Trust Venepuncture training and lead Glucose Tolerance Test clinics under indirect supervision.
  • Run errands, provide administrative support, and transport samples as delegated by the Midwife in charge.
  • Maintain clinical area cleanliness while clinics are in progress.
  • Escalate concerns to the Midwife in charge.

Qualifications

  • Computer literate, able to use Trust systems for documentation.
  • Ability to complete Trust Venepuncture training and lead Glucose Tolerance Test clinics.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with patients, families and the maternity team.
  • Capacity to work flexible hours, including weekends and bank holidays on a rota basis.
