We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Clinical Pharmacy Services Manager (Band 8c) to lead and develop high-quality clinical pharmacy services at Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Based at Leighton Hospital, this senior leadership role is pivotal to the delivery of safe, effective and innovative pharmaceutical care across the Trust.
The post holder will be responsible for the strategic development, governance and operational management of clinical pharmacy services, working closely with the Deputy Director of Pharmacy to support the overall delivery of pharmacy services. You will lead a team of clinical pharmacists and technicians, acting as a role model for professional practice, service improvement and multidisciplinary working.
This role offers an exciting opportunity to shape medicines optimisation, clinical governance, digital medicines systems and workforce development, while providing highly specialist clinical pharmacy input to defined clinical areas. The successful candidate will be an experienced hospital pharmacist with strong leadership, clinical expertise and a passion for improving patient outcomes.
Responsibilities- Provide senior leadership for all clinical pharmacy services across the Trust, ensuring delivery of safe, effective and high-quality pharmaceutical care.
- Hold managerial responsibility for clinical pharmacy and specialist pharmacy staff, including recruitment, appraisal, job planning, performance management and workforce development.
- Lead the strategic planning and long-term development of clinical pharmacy services in line with Trust priorities and national guidance.
- Act as Trust lead for clinical pharmacy governance and risk management, including incident investigation, complaint review and development of safe systems of work.
- Ensure compliance with professional, statutory and Trust policies, maintaining high standards of professional practice and accountability.
- Oversee medicines optimisation, formulary management and medicines use, including active membership of the Medicines Management Group.
- Support divisional drug budget management through monitoring expenditure, forecasting cost pressures and evaluating new medicines.
- Participate in audit, research, drug utilisation reviews and performance monitoring to support continuous service improvement.
- Manage and promote education, training and continuing professional development for pharmacy staff and multidisciplinary colleagues.
- Contribute to Trust-wide digital clinical systems relating to medicines and ensure robust information governance and documentation standards.
- Represent the pharmacy service at Trust and external meetings, developing strong links with primary care, the ICB and external partners.
The post includes responsibility for clinical pharmacy governance, risk management, incident review, audit, education and workforce development, ensuring compliance with professional, statutory and Trust requirements.
