We are seeking an experienced and motivated Assistant Service Manager to join our team. This pivotal role will bring strong leadership, organisational and communication skills, and provide effective operational management to the Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC) and GP OOH services in alignment with NHS standards and regulatory requirements. You will work closely with the Service Manager, Clinical Lead and Lead Nurse to coordinate all operational aspects, manage staff and operational flow with a proactive approach to problem solving, and drive service improvement initiatives that enhance patient experience and support the Trust’s strategic objectives. Requirements: The role will require the ability to work some evenings, weekends and bank holidays to meet and support team members, and ensure senior coverage during periods of increased operational demand.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide strong and effective leadership, management, and support to the UTC/GP OOH teams and wider interdependent services within MCHFT and CCICP.
  • Oversee the daily operational running of the UTC and GP OOH services to ensure high-quality, efficient service delivery.
  • Support and coordinate patient flow between clinical and non-clinical teams to maintain smooth patient pathways.
  • Act as the first point of contact for operational issues, resolving problems promptly and effectively.
  • Lead and support administrative and clinical support teams, including staffing rotas, performance management, staff development, and supporting delivery of NHS targets.
  • Implement systems and processes to improve operational efficiency, patient experience, and staff satisfaction.
  • Contribute to business continuity planning and support transformation initiatives to ensure services remain resilient, responsive, and continually improving.
  • Ensure compliance with NHS policies, CQC standards, health and safety, and data protection requirements.
