The Clinical Support Worker role is an exciting opportunity within our dedicated Children\’s Outpatient Department at Leighton Hospital.

Department Facilities and Staff

  • 6 consulting rooms, a treatment room, measuring room, as well as play and waiting areas.
  • 13 paediatricians providing clinics, along with visiting consultants from local Children\’s and Specialist Hospitals.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Reception duties, including welcoming and discharging children and their families, booking appointments, and preparing medical records.
  2. Chaperoning for babies, children, and their families.
  3. Assisting qualified staff with investigations on babies and children.
  4. Performing QB tests on children in community settings (following training).
  5. Participating in patient care delivery, following policies, procedures, and clinical guidelines.
  6. Collaborating within multidisciplinary teams to meet patient needs.
  7. Involving patients and carers in care, providing reassurance and support.
  8. Preparing clinical areas for safe practice and maintaining cleanliness.
  9. Recognizing and responding to urgent and emergency situations.
  10. Maintaining accurate records and contributing to information management.
  11. Promoting patient dignity, privacy, and anti-discriminatory practices.
  12. Establishing effective communication and maintaining confidentiality.
  13. Managing risks through accurate recording and reporting.
  14. Ensuring compliance with policies and guidelines, alerting senior staff as needed.
  15. Participating in service development and patient involvement activities.
  16. Ensuring resource availability and suggesting waste reduction measures.
