We are excited to share that our Day Surgery Service and Main Theatre Service are now combined into one dynamic team, delivering high-quality care across Basildon and Orsett Hospitals. This is an excellent opportunity to be part of a service that is central to our Trust's surgical provision.
At Basildon Hospital, we have a busy inpatient block comprising 7 theatres, 5 Day Stay Unit theatres, 2 maternity theatres, and an ECT suite, supporting a 24/7 activity profile and covering all surgical specialties except neurology. Our Day Surgery Service is a truly nurse-led model, with staff leading the way in areas such as pre-assessment and discharge. The service provides care for adults, children, and patients with additional needs, and includes overnight facilities. At Orsett Hospital, the unit operates as a stand-alone day surgery centre, delivering safe and effective care without inpatient facilities. Patients undergoing surgery in our main theatres are supported within the service, as are those transferred from A&E or other hospital departments. We also provide high-quality pre- and post-operative care for inpatients awaiting transfer to a ward when needed.
This is an exciting time to join a forward-thinking service that champions nurse-led practice, multidisciplinary teamwork, and the delivery of safe, compassionate, and patient-focused care.
