An opportunity has arisen within the Pharmacy Department at Southend Hospital for a motivated and enthusiastic Senior Pharmacy Homecare Technician leading the Oncology homecare team. We are looking for a Band 6 Pharmacy Technician, registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council, to join our department. The post holder will actively lead the delivery and continued expansion of the Oncology service across MSE including homecare services. They will also contribute to a wide range of other pharmacy services including Dispensary services, Outsourcing injectables, Education and Training, Medicine Management and Optimisation, and Trials when needed.
The right applicant will be a dedicated, hardworking individual that works well in a team environment as well as under own initiative. Attention to detail and organisational skills are essential. Current recognised ACT qualification or significant progress towards the qualification is essential to this role. Applicants without previous management experience will be considered. Main duties of the job
- To manage the staff within the oncology service to optimise workflow and patient experience.
- To manage the day-to-day work within the oncology service to minimise financial loss.
- Managing monthly KPI's.
- To develop and maintain supplier relationships.
- Undertake monthly review meetings.
- Make enquiries with suppliers.
- To liaise with doctors and nurses regarding authorisation and discrepancies with patient medication to improve patient safety.
- To provide advice to patients regarding their medication.
- To support other services within the pharmacy department including dispensary, procurement, ward technician services and trials.

Qualifications
- Qualified ACT (nationally recognised qualification) or significant progress towards qualification.
- NHS leadership qualification.
- Medicines Management Qualification (CMMPT or equivalent).
Experience
- Demonstrable post qualification experience within a hospital setting.
- Previous experience of working under pressure and to strict deadlines.

Annual salary: £38,682 per annum (pro rata for Part Time).
