Job Title: Test and Validation Manager
Location: Suffolk, UK – Onsite working required
Position Type: Full-time (37.5 hours per week)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Test and Validation Manager to lead a high-performing R&D team focused on the parametric characterisation and reliability testing of III-V telecom photonic devices. This is a leadership position in a cutting-edge research environment at the forefront of photonics innovation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define and own the test strategy and capability development roadmap to support product development and business goals
  • Lead the development of test hardware, methodology, and automation for advanced photonics technologies
  • Collaborate closely with design, process, and project teams to ensure test functions align with R&D needs
  • Build and manage a multidisciplinary team across test methods, hardware, and reliability engineering
  • Act as the technical authority for the test and validation function
  • Oversee product engineering, ensuring timely delivery and resolution of technical issues

Required Qualifications & Experience:

  • Degree in Engineering, Photonics, Electronics, or related discipline
  • 10+ years of experience in photonic device characterisation
  • Strong knowledge of telecommunication photonic test methods, process control, and device physics (especially III-V optoelectronic devices)
  • Experience with III-V device research, failure analysis, and reliability standards
  • Demonstrated experience managing multidisciplinary teams in an R&D setting
