Join a dynamic workshop team as a Panel Wirer Team Leader in Southampton. You will combine your hands-on electrical expertise with leadership to deliver high-quality control panels on time and safely.
Location: Southampton
Reports to: Metering Production Manager
Staff Responsibilities: Trainee Panel Wirers, Panel Wirers, Trainee Field Engineers (on site)
Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week (Mon-Fri 9:00am – 5:30pm) – overtime as required
Salary: £35,000 per annum
Key Responsibilities
- Supervision & Support: Lead and motivate trainee panel wirers, panel wirers, and field engineers.
- Workshop Management: Maintain workshop housekeeping and enforce Health & Safety standards.
- Panel Assembly: Assemble and wire control panels, follow schematics, and meet project deadlines.
- Stock & Logistics: Assist in managing inventory levels.
- Testing & Quality Control: Perform injection testing, fault finding, final QA, and sign off test documents.
- Company Standards: Ensure procedures are followed and provide training where required.
Personal Specification
Qualifications & Training
- Essential: Strong electrical knowledge; proven people management experience.
- Desirable: EAL Level 3 Panel Wiring Certificate; Level 3 People Management Certificate.
Experience
- Essential: Control panel assembly, inspection, and commissioning.
- Desirable: Experience managing a small team in a manufacturing environment.
Skills & Attributes
- Proficient in soldering, crimping, and wiring tasks.
- Able to read and interpret electrical schematics.
- Strong leadership, communication, time management, and organisational skills.
- Adaptable, resilient, and able to work independently while maintaining safety and quality.
Product Knowledge: Products will be taught in-house.
Competencies: Electrical principles and technical aptitude, interpretation of wiring diagrams, electrical assembly and safety regulations, leadership, team management, and cross-department communication.
