Senior Hardware Digital Engineer

Contract Duration: 6 to 9 Months
IR35 Status: Outside IR35
Location: Onsite in Hastings (Hybrid working considered)
Security Clearance: SC Cleared (mandatory)

Company Overview:

Our client, an established engineering and technology organization based in Hastings, is seeking a Senior Hardware Digital Engineer for an initial 6 to 9 month contract. This role plays a crucial part in delivering high-performance digital hardware solutions for defense sector applications.

Role Overview:

Working within a collaborative team environment, the successful candidate will leverage their expertise in digital hardware engineering to design, verify, and integrate complex systems. While the focus is on defense-related projects, applicants from adjacent industries with relevant experience are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyse and interpret customer requirements
  • Design and modify digital hardware architectures
  • Develop and simulate test benches using industry-standard tools
  • Contribute to technical reviews and design validation activities
  • Maintain strict configuration control throughout the development lifecycle
  • Perform hardware integration and system commissioning
  • Support manufacturing and test teams during build and validation phases

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Digital Circuit Design: Expertise in logic gates, flip-flops, and state machines
  • FPGA & ASIC Development: Experience in designing and implementing FPGAs and ASICs
  • HDL Proficiency: Strong knowledge of VHDL and/or Verilog
  • Embedded Systems: Familiarity with microprocessor and microcontroller architectures
  • Mixed-Signal Design: Understanding of ADCs, DACs, and analog/digital interfaces
  • Hardware design and verification against formal requirements
  • Experience in requirements capture, work package planning, and effort estimation
  • Competence in both analogue and digital hardware design modifications
  • Practical experience with system-level hardware commissioning
  • Understanding of RTCA/DO-254 development processes (preferred)

Working Conditions:

  • Onsite Requirement: Presence in Hastings is required; hybrid work model available after initial ramp-up
  • Security Clearance: Candidates must hold active SC Clearance
