The Senior IT Engineer will act as a senior technical point of escalation, taking ownership of complex issues and working alongside other senior engineers to deliver reliable, secure and effective solutions. The role offers considerable variety, with responsibility across networking, Microsoft 365 and Azure, as well as opportunities to provide technical consultancy and support the development of more junior members of the engineering team. The successful candidate will be trusted to work independently, investigate problems thoroughly and use their technical judgement to deliver the right solution.
Key Responsibilities
- Take ownership of complex technical issues escalated from junior engineers
- Work collaboratively with other senior engineers to resolve challenging technical problems
- Design, maintain and document client network infrastructure
- Administer and troubleshoot Microsoft 365 and Azure environments across multiple client tenants
- Provide client-facing technical consultancy and advisory support
- Identify opportunities to improve infrastructure reliability, performance and security
- Mentor and support junior engineers, sharing knowledge and technical experience
- Maintain high standards of technical documentation and best practice
- Participate in the on-call rotation following successful completion of the probationary period

The ideal candidate will be an experienced IT Engineer with strong hands-on technical skills and a proven ability to troubleshoot independently. The role would suit someone with:
- 3-5+ years' hands-on experience in a similar MSP, IT support or infrastructure environment
- Strong knowledge of networking fundamentals, including routing, switching, firewalls and VPNs
- Demonstrable experience administering Microsoft 365 and Azure
- Experience working across multiple client environments and Microsoft 365 tenants
- A proven track record of independent problem-solving
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
- Excellent communication skills and confidence dealing directly with clients
- The ability to mentor and support less experienced engineers
- A proactive, professional and customer-focused approach
