Role Overview
As a Platform Engineer at Rare, you will build and maintain Azure-based cloud infrastructure that supports game development and live services.
You’ll focus on automating deployments and improving system reliability using modern Dev Ops practices, while working closely with game teams to enhance performance, security, and cost efficiency.
The role combines hands‑on engineering with platform improvement, helping shape the studio’s long‑term infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and improve hybrid cloud infrastructure (on‑prem + Azure)
- Build and maintain automated deployment pipelines for infrastructure (CI/CD)
- Support game teams by designing scalable, reliable infrastructure
- Optimise systems for security, cost, and performance
- Keep infrastructure tools and frameworks up‑to‑date (patching, security)
- Identify and implement new cloud‑based improvements/innovations
- Must‑Have Skills
- Strong experience managing cloud infrastructure (preferably Azure)
- Hands‑on experience with Infrastructure as Code
- Bicep or Terraform (at least one required)
- Understanding of cloud security and best practices
- Familiarity with machine configuration / configuration management
- Awareness of Microsoft Cloud Adoption Framework (CAF)
