No experience but a keen interest in working in a busy laboratory environment? Microsearch Laboratories Ltd is a national food testing laboratory situated in Mytholmroyd at the heart of the Calder Valley.

We currently have a unique entry level opportunity available within our microbiological laboratory team. Titled as a Microbiological Food Analyst, this role is ideally suited to someone keen to learn a new vocation with a strong academic background, although specific microbiological experience is not required as full and ongoing training is provided.

We are interested in recruiting the right type of person for this role — someone with a keen interest in science, who wants to start a career with a business that offers the opportunity to work, develop and learn, and someone with an enthusiastic, energetic and conscientious nature to succeed in this role. Responsibilities

  • Preparing food samples & swabs for microbiological analysis
  • Inoculation and incubation of petri dishes

We expect a high level of attention to detail, efficiency, good organisation skills and the aptitude to learn and develop within the work environment.

Training, shifts and pay

You’ll join us on a two-week training programme with a dedicated training officer. Ongoing training is then provided.

Shifts available are: Monday – Friday, 12pm – 8pm and 1 in 4 Saturdays, 8am to 4pm.

The starting rates of pay are: £8.58 – £12.66.
