JOB PURPOSE

To provide strong and dynamic leadership to the Engineering team, building upon the solid foundations established in recent years. You will be responsible for ensuring that all equipment, infrastructure and buildings are maintained to the required company standards, while identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, reliability, and performance. The role will also involve sourcing, modifying, and implementing equipment to meet operational demands, and championing engineering innovation and new technologies to support business growth.

KEY DUTIES:

  • Take full responsibility for all engineering activities across multiple sites, leading through the Engineering Co-ordinator and site-based engineering teams.
  • Drive a culture of ownership and accountability for Health & Safety, Quality, and effective root cause problem-solving across all plants.
  • Monitor equipment downtime and associated repair costs, identifying and implementing modifications or replacement solutions where necessary.
  • Champion proactive and preventative maintenance strategies to maximise equipment reliability, extend asset life, and minimise reactive maintenance.
  • Ensure appropriate service contracts and compliance programmes are in place to meet all legal, regulatory, and industry standards.
  • Develop and manage the company's rolling three-year Capital Expenditure (CAPEX) plan.
  • Ensure suitable processes, methods, and equipment are introduced to support the successful manufacture of new products to agreed quality and cost standards.
  • Maintain awareness of emerging technologies and industry best practice through supplier engagement, exhibitions, and networking opportunities.
  • Actively contribute as a member of the Management Team, supporting wider business objectives and strategic initiatives.
  • Represent and promote the company during customer visits, audits, and external engagements.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop team members to enhance capability, encourage succession planning, and support continuous business improvement.
  • Lead and champion change initiatives while maintaining the company's core values and culture, as defined by the Micronclean SKIEs.
  • Drive structured, data-led problem solving for both internal operational issues and customer concerns, using recognised methodologies such as Toyota's 8-Step Process or Ford's 8D approach.

THE CANDIDATE

You will be a qualified multi-disciplined engineer with management experience within a manufacturing environment and a proven track record of leading high-performing teams. With a strategic and commercially aware mindset, you will be able to look beyond departmental priorities and consider the wider needs of the business. You will be analytical and data-driven, with the ability to identify root causes, implement sustainable solutions, and drive continuous improvement. A natural leader and relationship builder, you will be skilled in coaching and developing others, creating a culture of accountability, engagement, and high performance. You will also be comfortable leading change, influencing stakeholders at all levels, and ensuring compliance with industry and legislative requirements.

As the business continues to grow, this role offers the opportunity to play a key role in future infrastructure development projects and potentially assume responsibility for the Process Engineering function as part of your career progression.
