An IT Systems Administrator vacancy has arisen at our Holly Road site in Skegness, Lincolnshire.
Location: Holly Road, Skegness
Job Type: Full-Time
Hours of Work: Monday to Friday – 6.00am – 2:00pm (one half-hour unpaid lunch)
Salary Range: £32,000 - £37,000 per annum (dependent on knowledge and experience)
Job Purpose:
At Micronclean, our IT team delivers industry-leading technologies that support the evolving needs of both our internal and external customers. This includes the development and maintenance of our innovative garment management software, as well as a suite of web-based solutions designed to enhance customer interaction and service delivery. We are seeking a talented and passionate IT Systems Administrator to join our dynamic IT team. As part of a group of 10 dedicated IT specialists, you will contribute to the provision, support, and continuous improvement of both hardware and software solutions across the business. This role offers an exciting opportunity for an experienced IT professional to play a key part in delivering our IT operational strategy within a rapidly growing and forward-thinking organisation.
Job Role:
- Provide second-line technical support, diagnosing and resolving escalated issues across hardware, software, networking, and cloud-based services.
- Work closely with first-line support teams to improve resolution quality, reduce repeat incidents, and enhance overall service delivery.
- Assist in the management, maintenance, and optimisation of IT infrastructure, including servers, storage devices, networking equipment and cloud services.
- Monitor system performance, availability, and security, identifying risks and recommending proactive improvements.
- Administer user accounts, permissions, and access controls within Active Directory and other identity and management platforms.
- Support business-critical applications, ensuring timely updates, patching, and ongoing reliability.
- Produce and maintain clear technical documentation, including solutions, procedures, and best-practice guidance to support knowledge sharing.
- Contribute to IT projects, including system upgrades, migrations, and continuous process improvements.
- Keep up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and cybersecurity best practices.
- Participate in planned out-of-hours maintenance and project work, and provide on-call support for IT emergencies when required.
- Handle sensitive and confidential data in strict accordance with security, compliance, and data protection policies.
Knowledge, Skills and Qualifications required:
Essential:
- Relevant technical certifications or equivalent practical experience (e.g. CompTIA A+, Server+, Network+, Security+, Microsoft M365, Cisco CCNA).
- Strong understanding of IT systems and infrastructure, including operating systems (Windows Desktop, Windows Server, Android), networking fundamentals, and cloud platforms such as Microsoft.
- Proven experience in IT troubleshooting and support, using ticketing systems and structured technical support workflows.
- Hands-on experience with virtualisation technologies, such as VMware and/or Hyper-V.
- Solid working knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, and user account administration.
- Good understanding of cybersecurity principles, access control, and data protection best practices.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues efficiently, applying structured problem-solving techniques.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to identify root causes and implement effective solutions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical users.
- Well-developed organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- High level of attention to detail, combined with a proactive attitude and willingness to continuously develop technical knowledge.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team in a fast-paced environment, following established procedures and best practices.
- Full UK / EU driver's license.
- Previous experience in an IT Support, Service Desk or Systems Administration role.
Desirable:
- A degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Experience configuring routers, firewalls (e.g., Fortinet, Cisco).
- Experience with security frameworks (ISO 27001, Cyber Essentials).
