Here at Microlise, we have an exciting opportunity for a Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Manager to join our team! We are looking for an experienced and passionate HSE Manager, who will occupy a vital role that protects company reputation employee safety. You will be enhancing our environmental credentials by fostering a proactive safety culture, ensuring regulatory compliance, and driving environmental sustainability initiatives.

We are aspiring to become a net-zero business and are looking for someone who can support us on this sustainable journey. Ideally, your background will be from an SME organisation (at least 500 employees). Additionally, you will be collaborating proactively with our people to deliver the HSE strategy at our UK offices (Nottingham, Coventry, Altringham). This will include creating and managing policies, alongside processes and training that protects people from risks. Ideally, you will have a proven ability to drive continuous improvement and a positive culture of Health, Safety and Sustainability.

What you will be doing:

  • Develop and implement compliant HSE improvement plans, policies, procedures, and best practicesacross the business to achieve measurable reductions in risks and incidents that foster a proactive safety culture
  • Develop a compliant HSE management system and implement the relevant initiatives, providing guidance and support to the organisation and the people within it
  • Promote a HSE culture across the business by championing HSE initiatives, encouraging employee involvement and implementing behavioural programs
  • Oversee the implementation and maintenance of ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 certified management systems
  • Proactively identify emerging HSE risks and develop preventative strategies to mitigate potential incidents and non-compliance
  • Provide environmental performance information for TCFD, SECR, ESOS and other customer compliance audits
  • Lead incident and accident investigations, including RIDDOR reporting, root cause analysis, and corrective actions
  • Oversee contractor H&S compliance and implement site-wide safety audits
  • Build, monitor and report on KPIs, identifying areas for improvement
  • Management of First Aiders and Fire Wardens, ensuring there is sufficient cover across the business and First Aiders are sufficiently trained and clear on their responsibilities
  • Participate in the Management Review ISO14001/ISO45001 for the site. Report on HSE status and provide advice on improvement activities
  • ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 implementation and management
  • Travel to UK offices and customer locations in the UK as needed

What we are looking for:

  • Demonstrable experience in a HSE Manager role, in an organisation of more than 500 employees
  • Excellent working and evident knowledge of HSE
  • NEBOSH National Certificate or Diploma or equivalent Health Safety qualifications
  • ISO 45001 & 14001 standards implementation and maintenance
  • Demonstrable experience implementing positive HSE changes
  • Ability to plan, prioritise and track work in a busy environment
  • Computer and IT literate – specific focus on all Microsoft Office systems
  • Commercial and financial awareness in a corporate environment
  • Valid UK driving licence and flexibility to visit our satellite offices, on an ad-hoc basis
