Job Description:
We are seeking a Communications Systems Engineer with a solid foundation in communication theory and signal processing to join our UK‑based Wireless Systems Group. You will contribute to the design and implementation of physical‑layer algorithms for cutting‑edge, low‑power Wi‑Fi and Bluetooth products.
In this role, you’ll collaborate closely with a global, cross‑functional engineering team, including RF/Analog, Digital, and Validation groups within a supportive environment that values technical curiosity and creative problem‑solving. Whether you’re early in your career or already experienced, you’ll have the opportunity to tackle complex challenges and help shape next‑generation wireless systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and simulate physical‑layer architectures for advanced wireless communication systems
- Develop system‑level models to evaluate performance, optimise algorithms, and guide design trade‑offs
- Collaborate with RF/Analog engineers to define module specifications
- Work with digital design teams to implement algorithms and digital processing blocks
- Support bring‑up, testing, and troubleshooting of test chips and SoCs across RF/Analog, digital, and validation domains
- Produce clear, high‑quality documentation, design reports, and test plans
Requirements/Qualifications:
- Master’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent academic background)
- Strong grounding in signal processing and communication theory
- Proficiency with MATLAB, C/C++, and fixed‑point or cycle‑accurate modelling
- Experience with modem or digital front‑end block design
- Exposure to FPGA design
- Familiarity with IC design, RFIC calibration, or testing
- Knowledge of Wi‑Fi or Bluetooth PHY standards is a strong advantage
- Collaborative mindset with the ability to work across disciplines and resolve technical challenges; leadership potential is a plus
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical concepts clearly and produce high‑quality engineering documentation
