Based at our Manufacturing in Caldicot, South Wales this role will report to the NPI Engineering Manager, you will be an integral part of the New Product Introduction team. In this role you will develop key skills/techniques to use industry standard CAD software to design PCBs, modules, and production tooling. Working alongside a senior CAD engineer you will be responsible for the design of microelectronic modules for medical, security and high-power electric vehicle and renewable energy markets, where small size and high reliability are critical. As a NPI CAD engineer, you will contribute to the growth and continued success of the company, by ensuring the designs of our next generation products meet the customer requirements.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design of electronic PCB/Modules and production tooling using industry standard CAD software
  • Ensuring new PCB/Modules conform with the design rules for internal manufacturing and external fabrication, using innovative design techniques to challenge and improve existing design rules to aid miniaturisation and reliability
  • Creating manufacturing data to enable successful manufacture of prototypes & qualification modules
  • Collaborating with the multi-disciplinary project teams to deliver new products using Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) approach
  • Value engineering and design for manufacture

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Degree-level educated in a mechanical or electronics engineering related discipline
  • Recently graduated or 1+ years' experience of working in an electronics design environment
  • Experience/understanding of industry standard CAD software (e.g. Cadence, Altium, Solidworks)
  • Passion for electronics PCB/Module and mechanical design
  • Understanding of electronic circuits/schematics
  • Results focussed and improvement driven
  • Structured and systematic approach to tasks
  • Practical and resourceful
