Overview
In this role you will contribute to the HMID Firmware Development Team within Microchip’s leading touchscreen and human interface division. You will work across the full embedded software lifecycle, from requirements to verification, in a collaborative, high-skill team. The position offers hands-on technical challenges, formal training, and opportunities to mentor others while influencing next‑generation touch controllers. You will apply AI thinking to streamline development and help solve complex customer issues in a resource‑constrained environment.
Responsibilities
- Analyze requirements for embedded software applications
- Formulate innovative solutions in resource-constrained environments
- Problem-solve challenging customer issues
- Analyze, document, debug, and optimize existing embedded software
- Adopt AI in development processes
- Document design and test specifications
- Implement software to design requirements and standards
- Perform unit, integration, and qualification testing
- Provide peer review input to others’ work (documentation and software)
- Leadership/mentorship of Junior Engineers
- Manage firmware development projects
- Collaborate with other Senior Firmware Engineers to improve the Firmware Development Process
- Coordinate with Silicon Development and Applications to advance touch controllers
Key requirements
- B.Sc. in Electronic Engineering or equivalent
- 10+ years of industrial embedded firmware experience (non-managerial)
- Strong C programming in embedded environments
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- AI literate
- Ability to interpret datasheets, product datasheets, application notes and PCB schematics
- Experience with full software development lifecycle and development tools
- Extensive experience with microcontroller peripherals
- Proficient with Microsoft Office tools and strong English communication
- Knowledge of CMMi, Automotive SPICE, ISO‑26262, IEC/UL‑60730 (useful)
