Based at our site in Caldicot, South Wales and reporting to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager, you will be an integral part of the Operations team developing microelectronic modules and manufacturing processes for medical, high power automotive and high-speed optical communication markets, where small size and high reliability are critical. Microchip's Caldicot site is responsible for designing and delivering the next generation of advanced electronic module solutions for global technology markets. Our markets include medical applications, automotive, aerospace and renewable energy.
As a Senior Manufacturing Engineer, you will contribute to the growth and continued success of the company, by supporting the development of its next generation products and in driving the business towards its quality and productivity goals. You will have the opportunity to influence every stage of the product development cycle, from early-stage R&D to fulfilment of high-volume production orders by leading process improvement and development projects within the established process team. The role presents a great opportunity for somebody looking to build on existing skills and take the next step in their career.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:- Provide process leadership of key manufacturing processes with an aim to implement continuous improvement in process and product development.
- Define and lead process improvement projects in line with company goals and in collaboration with management team.
- Identify and deliver process improvements to optimise cycle times, yield performance and cost targets across the product range and all processes.
- Mentor and support colleagues with their development and lead them in structured process validation and continuous improvement.
- Work closely with planning, manufacturing and other engineering disciplines to identify and diagnose process issues, manage risks and design and implement improvements to processes and systems.
- Applying engineering science to the development of new and novel manufacturing solutions across multiple manufacturing processes.
- Degree-level educated in a manufacturing/engineering related discipline.
- 8+ years experience of working in a manufacturing facility.
- Results focussed and improvement driven.
- Structured and systematic approach to tasks and communications.
- Strong team facilitation and project management abilities.
- Experience in leadership or mentoring of less experienced colleagues.
- Practical and resourceful.
- Knowledge of microelectronic processing or power module assembly would be an advantage.
