Microchip’s Advanced Packaging team delivers a competitive advantage for its customers by miniaturizing electronic components to create smaller, smarter and more reliable circuit solutions. As Principal Test Engineer you will support design, development and manufacturing of the companies next generation electronic modules. This position will allow you to become an integral part of a team of specialists in materials, mechanical, electronics and packaging engineers that strive to push the boundaries of conventional microelectronics packaging. We are looking for an individual with a passion for exploration and breaking down barriers. Main Duties and Responsibilities:- Formulating test strategies that meet the objective of lean product verification
- Interpreting customer requirements to produce clear specifications
- Developing bespoke ‘rack & stack’ systems, including hardware and software
- Facilitating team-orientated risk management (FMEA and compliance review)
- Planning and implementing product verification and validation activities
- Analysing and interpreting test data versus application requirements
- Articulating product performance to a multi-disciplinary group
- Measurement System Analysis
- Identifying and implementing continual improvement projects
- Disciplined problem solving
- Support in-house training programmes as required
- Travel internationally on occasion as requested
- Degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or related discipline
- 7+ years’ experience of working in a concurrent engineering environment
- Proven project management abilities (scheduling, contingency planning, budget tracking, expediting)
- Microcontroller experience desirable (particularly PIC16 and PIC32)
- Embedded C microcontroller protocols UART, SPI, I2C etc.
- Experience developing test routines using Labview and Teststand desirable
- Use of National Instruments racking systems desirable
- Experience of Visual C# application development desirable
- Circuit design and PCB layout design using software such as Altium
- Structured and disciplined approach
- Articulate – able to convey technical options/arguments in a concise way
- Comfortable leading and facilitating team technical activities
- Focused on business results and process improvement
- Flexible – able and willing to contribute to all aspects of the team’s work
