As a Technical Pre-Sales Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the sales process by bridging the gap between technical expertise and client requirements. You will work closely with the sales team (CEMs) to understand customer needs and demonstrate how our technical solutions can address those needs effectively. This role requires a deep understanding of Time and Frequency systems level products, excellent communication skills, and the ability to translate technical concepts into clear, compelling presentations.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a technical advisor to the sales team, providing insights and recommendations on product capabilities, compatibility, and customization options based on customer needs.
- Collaborate with the sales team to understand customer requirements and develop tailored solutions.
- Prepare and deliver technical presentations, demonstrations, and product trainings to potential clients.
- Assist in the creation of technical proposals, bids, and quotations by translating customer requirements into detailed technical specifications.
- Conduct product demonstrations either remotely or on-site to showcase key features, functionalities, and benefits to prospective clients.
- Address technical questions and concerns during demonstrations to ensure a clear understanding of the product's value proposition.
- Create test plans and conduct verification tests such as acceptance testing and proofs of concept (PoC).
- Create test reports and discuss results with clients.
- Develop and maintain project-specific and customized technical documentation, including test plans/reports, customized specifications, solution descriptions and FAQs to support the sales process and facilitate customer understanding.
- Work closely with the FTS technical support team on a case-by-case basis, such as escalations.
- Monitor and collaborate on post-sales technical support to clients, including troubleshooting technical issues, resolving product-related challenges, and coordinating with the engineering or support teams as needed.
- Conduct training sessions for internal sales teams to enhance their technical understanding of products and services.
- Stay updated on industry trends, competitor offerings, and emerging technologies to provide valuable insights to both sales and product development teams.
- Gather feedback from customers regarding product performance, user experience, and feature requests.
- Communicate this feedback to BU and relevant teams to inform product improvements and enhancements.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications, or a related technical field.
- Proven at least 5 years of experience in technical pre-sales, systems engineering, or field application engineering, preferably within the Frequency and Time Systems domain.
- Strong understanding of technical sales processes and customer engagement.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience with lab testing, PoC, and technical documentation.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multicultural, geographically dispersed team.
- Willingness to travel within the EMEA region as required.
- Proficiency in English; additional EMEA languages are a plus.
