The predicted salary is between 11 - 13 £ per hour.
As an intern, you will be assigned work package(s) suitable to your experience and skills in order to make a valuable contribution. Typical examples of work package include:
- Assist in the development and testing of microchip products
- Validation testing for new products
- Development of software to enhance firmware simulator tool
- Updating firmware to increase compliance with industry coding standards
- Development of software for Unit Test and/or Integration Test harnesses
- Support for automated test strategies for firmware qualification
- Implementation/updating of custom test equipment
- Scripting execution of automated test sequences and recording of test results
Qualifications
- Completed second year of Electronics Engineering degree (or similar)
- Previous experience working in electronics or related industry would be an advantage
- Programming skills in C (preferably for embedded products) and/or C#
- Programming skills in Python or similar scripting languages
- Experience with debugging digital electronics, including familiarity with use of oscilloscopes and related equipment
- Excellent communication skills
We are offering a 12-month placement for students to start Summer 2026. You will be part of the Microchip Human Machine Interface Division (HMID) which is responsible for the development of multitouch capacitive sensing devices, known as maXTouch®. Based in Whiteley, UK, the Business Unit is a centre of excellence for capacitive touch sensing. You will be working in a small but highly skilled team, as part of a wider organization both within the Whiteley office and worldwide. This position will allow you to gain experience working in an industrial environment, to learn more about the full product development lifecycle, and to develop a closer understanding of our industry and its technologies.
