About microbz
We are a fast-growing probiotic wellness business built around a belief that healthy soils create healthy food, and healthy food creates healthy people. We make living probiotic products from our organic land in the English countryside for gut health, homes, animals, gardens and agriculture. We are a founder-led business with strong values, a loyal customer base and ambitious plans for growth. We grew by 40% last year and are targeting another 40% this year, with eCommerce as the main driver. Marketing plays a central role in that growth.
We are looking for a commercially minded Marketing Manager to help build the next stage of that growth. This is a hands-on role for someone who wants real ownership, broad responsibility and the opportunity to shape how marketing works in a growing business.
Role summary
You will be the main marketing lead across eCommerce, customer acquisition, retention and digital performance. You will work closely with the founders to improve how marketing drives revenue, strengthens customer relationships and supports the wider business. We are currently 11 staff, this is not a role with a large team, but you will have the opportunity to shape the team as we grow. This role is for someone who enjoys being hands-on, making decisions quickly and building strong systems that support long-term growth.
You’ll help improve the digital infrastructure of the business, from customer journeys and email flows to website performance, reporting and marketing automation. It is ideal for someone who has strong marketing experience already and is ready for broader ownership and greater commercial responsibility.
Key responsibilities
- eCommerce growth and performance
- Support and drive website revenue growth as the business’s main commercial channel
- Build and improve marketing activity across acquisition, conversion, retention and subscription
- Improve conversion rates across the customer journey through testing, optimisation and customer insight
- Help grow subscriptions, repeat purchase and customer lifetime value
- Track performance across key commercial metrics including CAC, LTV and conversion
- Manage marketing spend carefully and focus on ROI across channels
- Continue to develop key acquisition channels including affiliate and referral marketing
- Work in collaboration with the digital and social media lead to drive acquisition through social media
- Work across the business bridging the DTC (selling probiotics to consumers) with the B2B (selling agriculture probiotics to farmers) and convey the importance of both and wider story to audiences.
Digital marketing and paid performance
- Manage paid performance channels including website, Google, SEO and other growth opportunities
- Improve website UX, landing pages and conversion pathways across Shopify
- Build, optimise and improve Klaviyo flows, campaigns and lifecycle marketing
- Review customer journeys and remove friction across acquisition and retention
- Work with agencies, freelancers and developers to ensure marketing activity delivers strong commercial results
AI-led marketing improvement
We see AI as an important part of modern marketing helping small teams to work smarter. You will help lead how AI is used across marketing to improve effectiveness, efficiency and decision-making. This includes:
- Improving content creation, testing and SEO performance
- Strengthening CRM personalisation and customer segmentation
- Improving customer journey optimisation and conversion insight
- Improving paid media efficiency and campaign decision-making
- Building better reporting and faster access to customer and commercial insight
- Reducing manual work through smarter automation and better systems
We are looking for someone who sees AI as a practical growth tool, not just a writing shortcut.
Brand, content and communication
- Protect and strengthen the microbz brand across every customer touchpoint
- Lead content across education, SEO, storytelling and conversion-focused campaigns
- Ensure our tone of voice remains clear, credible and human
- Balance short-term performance marketing with long-term customer trust and brand strength
Wider business support
- Work closely with founders to support ambitious growth targets
- Support product launches, partnerships and new commercial opportunities
The ideal candidate would
- Come from a DTC, wellness or eCommerce business where marketing was expected to drive real commercial outcomes.
- Understand that good marketing is measured by growth, not just activity.
- Be confident working both strategically and hands-on.
- Be happy reviewing campaign performance one minute and improving website copy or email flows the next
- Think commercially and understand how acquisition, retention and customer lifetime value work together.
- Work well without heavy structure and enjoy taking ownership rather than waiting for instructions.
- Be naturally curious about AI and already use it to improve marketing performance and efficiency.
- Want the chance to build something, not just manage someone else’s process.
What we can offer you
- We operate a small but growing team where everybody has a vested interest in the company’s success.
- Bonuses depending on business and individual performance
- 28 days holiday (including bank holidays)
- ‘On the job’ training and opportunities for personal development
- The opportunity to grow with a fast-growing company with plenty of opportunity to influence how things are done
- Staff product allowance of probiotics
- Full training provided on our range of probiotics for gut health, cleaning, gardening, pets and agriculture
- Shopify: our website provider
- Klaviyo: our mailout provider
