Reporting To: Founder and Managing Director

Place of Work: Brewery, unit 5, Seend, Wiltshire

Hours/Days: 28 - 37.5 hours

Salary: tbc based on experience

Position Summary

This is an exciting opportunity to develop the agriculture side of microbz. We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-starter, with a passion for microbes and their use in farming. The primary responsibilities of this role are to lead and manage the agriculture arm of microbz, drive sales to UK farmers and capture learnings. Microbz in agriculture is a growing side of the business, providing 100% natural probiotics for all areas of agriculture including animal feed, soil, composting and plant health. This role involves developing relationships with farmers, visiting farms and advising about how microbes can be used, selling microbial products and capturing results. It requires knowing the microbz product range and application rates. You must be familiar with the importance of microbiology in soil, environmental and animal health. You will need to be a self-starter, working to implement processes from the ground up, managing relationships, gathering leads and making sales. You will need to be good at communicating with customers and within the business to ensure orders are brewed and delivered on time.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Sales to farmers
  • Understand and show enthusiasm for our microbial products
  • Collaborate with the Founder and technical leads to visit and advise farmers on which products to use and how to apply them
  • Build and maintain a database of farming contacts
  • Lead generation and managing the sales pipeline, communicating with the Managing Director on sales forecasts
  • Create and maintain good relationships with farmers, delivering excellent customer service
  • Operations
  • Work with the Managing Director and Production Manager to ensure products are supplied to customers in a timely and efficient manner
  • Keep on top of agriculture orders and ensure farmers have their products and know how to apply them
  • Own and manage the agriculture budget
  • Marketing
  • Develop and update marketing materials including presentations, brochures, reports, blogs, social media content, newsletters and collaborate with the existing marketing team.
  • Ensure marketing materials communicate the impact of microbz products in UK farming and agriculture
  • Maintain up-to-date sales materials including specification sheets, price lists and application rates
  • Manage relationships with our agriculture partners
  • Speak and present data at agriculture conferences and events
  • Be part of the wider conversation about regenerative agriculture and support communications activities including marketing and PR where applicable
  • Research
  • Capture the impact of microbz products to support learnings, sales and product development
  • Collaborate with researchers to ensure trials are robust and data is gathered effectively
  • Visit European partners and build an alliance between companies working on using probiotics in agriculture
  • Support the development of new products
  • Understand machinery that is used on farm and develop ways that liquid probiotics can best be integrated into farming systems
  • Understand UK farming policy and be able to position the business to take advantage of subsidies and other benefits where applicable
