The Micro:bit Educational Foundation is looking for a Head of Marketing for a 12-month contract, to cover maternity leave.

Strategy and leadership

  • Implement the marketing strategy for the Foundation to grow both our commercial and not for profit audiences globally.
  • Be the leader of marketing thinking across the Foundation.
  • Continue to develop a brand strategy and narrative.
  • Manage/liaise with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Implement marketing thinking into the Foundation's activities.
  • Develop the Foundation's understanding of our audiences.
  • Apply this understanding to targeted marketing activities working with the Product, Education and Partnership teams, Head of Global Channels and other colleagues as needed.
  • Manage all marketing operations – legal, data, budgets, processes – and provide visibility, planning and co‐ordination to marketing efforts across the organisation.
  • Ensure that how we build and communicate with our audience is incorporated into product thinking and projects.
  • Consistently review marketing activity to ensure that it is delivering impact versus objectives.
  • Routinely review with stakeholders across the Foundation to enhance and embed marketing priorities.

Major campaigns

  • Lead on marketing and comms strategy for the Foundation's key campaigns.
  • Measure and report on the performance and return on investment of marketing campaigns.
  • Lead on developing and delivering campaigns for major milestones e.g. project milestones, product launches.

Brand and design

  • Brand advocate and guardianship.
  • Manage external design services used by the various teams in the Foundation ensuring there is a consistent, co‐ordinated, and common look and feel.
  • Develop and maintain brand narratives/messaging, and ensure there is a consistency of written style (as per brand guidelines) in external communications.
  • Develop and manage brand assets, including photos, video and illustration and any printed items.
  • Responsible for localising marketing messaging and content for different geographies globally.

Content, social media and digital marketing

  • Lead on the content plan, developing and delivering relevant and useful marketing content for our audiences, liaising with relevant colleagues and external partners to build stories and content.
  • Manage and work with the social media manager to lead the Foundation's social media strategy.
  • Manage the Foundation's email marketing, supporting colleagues to write and deliver the emails.
  • Manage the marketing content on the website.
  • Experiment with a variety of organic and paid‐for digital marketing, build appropriate future plans based on their performance, utilising and managing external resources if needed.

PR and events

  • Deliver a micro:bit presence at relevant global conferences such as BETT and ISTE, working with relevant colleagues.
  • Identify proactive and reactive opportunities for press and public relations, utilising and managing external resources if needed.
  • Responsible for identifying relevant awards to enter and managing that process.

Essential

  • Belief in the Foundation's mission to broaden participation in digital creativity and coding, with the aim of reaching more girls and under‐represented groups.
  • Ability to manage influence through persuasion, negotiation, and consensus building.
  • Entrepreneurial attitude, able to create something from scratch and see it through to completion.
  • Experience designing and executing strategy to achieve organisational goals.
  • Sound financial acumen.
  • Efficient, resilient, and flexible.
  • Experience ideally in the education sector, preferably in both a commercial and not for profit sector.
  • Excellent communication and decision‐making skills.
  • Familiarity with social media development strategies, online content marketing, PR and events.
  • An exceptional level of attention to detail and excellent organisational skills.
  • Skills to analyse and monitor trends in the market.
  • 3‐5 years of experience in a marketing role either client side or agency.
  • Dedication to accessibility, diversity and inclusion through all the communications work we do.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of the Edtech market.
  • Experience working in a global setting.
