About You
The Digital Content Officer will identify important research from our publishing portfolio and other activities to support the creation of digital content on microbiological topics for a variety of audiences.

The postholder will develop knowledge of the scientific research activities of Society journals, authors and members, acting as a conduit between their expertise and our audiences. This will involve working closely with the Content and Media Editor, the Head of Engagement and Storytelling and other colleagues, to keep up to date on upcoming articles, campaigns, events, membership activities, and important topics in microbiology.

The role will be responsible for developing efficient and timely processes to streamline the production of varied content from research identified as newsworthy – sometimes at short notice in response to interest in microbiology from the public, media and policy makers; and work with the Content and Media Editor to support the production of the Society podcast ‘Microbe Talk’, planning, hosting and editing episodes promoting scientific research, members stories and other Society activities.

The successful candidate will have experience of writing communication materials such as news stories and case studies along with strong communication skills to explain complex scientific information to non-specialist audiences. They should also have experience producing and editing video and/or audio content.
