Thermal Engineer – Space Industry
We’re seeking an accomplished Thermal Engineer to join our client’s team and address complex heat dissipation challenges for satellites. This role involves close collaboration with mechanical and electronics engineers to maintain stable satellite and engine operations at temperatures exceeding 300°C. You’ll lead the creation of a thermal control system from scratch, taking full ownership to ensure mission success. Please note: This is not a regular 9-to-5 role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct steady-state and transient thermal analysis for spacecraft thermal systems, monitoring performance during ground operations, TVAC testing, launch, and orbit.
- Advise hardware development teams on design decisions, applying an in-depth knowledge of materials, thermal properties, and methods for thermal dissipation.
- Provide leadership and support in developing thermal vacuum test procedures, scripts, and installation designs.
- Drive the development of thermal systems, including architecture definition, modeling, component sizing, and design.
Fundamental Requirements:
- Strong understanding of thermal control design principles for satellites, both in theory and practice.
- Extensive hands-on experience with lab equipment, as this role includes a significant hardware component.
- Proficiency in FEM and thermal analysis tools (e.g., Ansys, Thermal Desktop, ESATAN) and experience with programming languages.
