As part of our continued growth, Micro-Epsilon UK is seeking an ambitious Automation & Integration Engineer to join our expanding team based at our UK headquarters in Birkenhead, Wirral. We are looking for a talented engineer with a background in Engineering or Computer Science, who enjoys solving complex technical challenges and working closely with customers to turn requirements into real-world solutions. You will play a key role in supporting customer applications, integrating Micro-Epsilon’s high‑precision sensors and systems into automation and measurement environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Become a technical expert across the Micro‑Epsilon product portfolio.
- Evaluate new customer enquiries, liaising with internal and external sales teams.
- Conduct test and evaluation measurements at Micro‑Epsilon UK facilities.
- Produce evaluation and test reports for customer review.
- Support and enhance our in‑house test and demonstration facilities.
- Provide technical assistance for installed systems via MS Teams, phone, and site visits.
- Support installation, commissioning, training, and periodic recalibrations at customer sites.
- Learn to integrate Micro‑Epsilon sensors with customer PLCs, PCs, and networks.
Qualifications and Experience
Education
- HNC, HND, or Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Software Engineering (or related discipline).
Core Skills
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and development skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication.
- Able to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Confident working both independently and in multi‑disciplinary teams.
- Comfortable engaging directly with engineers and technical stakeholders.
Desirable Knowledge (or willingness to learn)
- Integration of automation products such as sensors and vision systems.
- Experience with industrial communication protocols (Profibus, ProfiNET, EtherCAT, TCP/IP, UDP).
- Familiarity with C‑family programming languages and Windows OS.
- Experience with image processing tools and Linux‑based programming.
