Overview
We are seeking a technically strong and detail-focused Project Manager to lead the delivery of a vital flood defence and river diversion project in Benacre, Beccles. This scheme involves the construction of flood defence bunds, cofferdams, haul roads, and the controlled diversion of a watercourse. This is a critical role suited to a proactive and academically capable Project Manager with a background in civil engineering, and a proven ability to manage not just the site operations but also the documentation, planning, and commercial aspects of a project under NEC Option A.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the delivery of all works on site, including temporary works (cofferdams and haul roads) and the permanent river diversion, ensuring safe and timely completion.
- Coordinate and control the production of ITPs, risk assessments, method statements, and site documentation, ensuring alignment with quality and environmental standards.
- Administer the NEC Option A contract, ensuring robust management of change, compensation events, and early warnings.
- Work closely with planners, commercial teams, and the client to maintain accurate programmes and forecasts.
- Produce high-quality presentations and reports for internal and external stakeholders, covering progress, technical planning, health and safety, and commercial performance.
- Maintain a strong focus on health, safety and environmental standards, and lead site-based HSEQ reviews and audits.
- Collaborate with the Main Contractor and Designers to ensure all technical and statutory obligations are met.
- Monitor and manage site resources, plant utilisation, and logistics.
What We’re Looking For
- A minimum of 5 years' experience delivering civil engineering projects, ideally with watercourse, environmental, or flood risk elements.
- Strong academic or technical background in civil engineering, construction management, or a related discipline.
- Proven experience managing works under NEC Option A and understanding its implications on cost, risk, and change control.
- Competence in producing, reviewing, and managing ITPs, RAMS, and health and safety documentation.
- Ability to prepare and deliver professional, well-structured presentations and reports to a range of stakeholders.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a structured and diligent working style.
- Strong planning, coordination, and risk management capability.
- SMSTS and CSCS (Black or White Card) required.
