Here at The Mick George Group we are looking for a Contracts Manager to join our Earthworks Division based at our Head Office in Huntingdon.
Role Overview: The Contracts Manager plays a crucial role in overseeing construction projects from inception to completion. They are responsible for coordinating and managing all aspects of the project, ensuring it is completed on time, within budget and to the required SHEQ standards. This role requires strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills, as well as a deep understanding of construction processes and regulations in the UK.
Responsibilities:
- Project Planning and Coordination: Develop comprehensive project plans, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocation. Coordinate with clients, designers, engineers, subcontractors and other stakeholders to ensure project objectives are met. Monitor project progress, produce comprehensive reports and make adjustments as necessary to keep it on track. Produce Health, Safety and Quality documents to comply with project specific requirements.
- Budget Management: Prepare and manage project budgets, ensuring adherence to financial constraints. Track expenses and identify cost-saving opportunities to optimise project profitability.
- Risk Management: Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimise disruptions to the project. Implement health and safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment for all personnel on-site.
- Stakeholder Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, keeping them informed of project status, milestones, and any issues that may arise. Facilitate regular meetings with stakeholders to address concerns, provide updates, and solicit feedback.
- Quality Control: Establish and enforce quality standards to ensure that workmanship meets or exceeds industry requirements and client expectations. Conduct inspections and audits to verify compliance with specifications and regulations.
- Team Leadership: Supervise and motivate project team members, providing guidance and support to maximise their performance. Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment that promotes innovation and teamwork.
Skills/Qualifications:
- Proven experience in the Bulk earthwork & Civils industry, with a track record of successfully delivering projects on time and within budget.
- Hold NVQ level 3 CSCS and SMSTS training.
- Knowledge of Earthworks and items of heavy plant.
- Strong knowledge of bulk earthworks movements and outputs & methods.
- Strong knowledge of construction materials and regulations in the UK.
- Strong Knowledge of SHW600 & 800 series specifications.
- Excellent communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in project management software and tools.
- Leadership abilities, with a focus on problem-solving and decision-making.
- Ability to be methodical and flexible in approach to task.
- A pro-active team member.
- Excellent MS Office skills.
- Experience in Asta, Primavera or Microsoft Projects (Desirable).
- Bachelor's / HNC degree in construction management, engineering, or related field (Desirable).
- NVQ Level 6 or 7 CSCS qualifications (Desirable).
- Professional membership and accreditation (Desirable).
