Here at the Mick George Group we are currently recruiting a Technical Manager to join the Concrete department.
Location: Mick George Head Office – Huntingdon
Working Hours: Monday – Friday 8am – 5pm
Pay: Dependent on experience.

Role Purpose:
Ensure all concrete operations meet health, safety, and quality standards, including ISO and BSI regulations. Oversee the technical performance of concrete plants, create and update mix designs, and ensure batching and sampling are carried out correctly. Investigate and resolve technical issues and customer complaints, provide monthly reports to management, and support site visits when needed. Work with suppliers to improve concrete performance and cost efficiency, maintain technical systems and records, monitor production data, and assist with Cemfloor orders to reduce operational risks.
Responsibilities:

- EN206
- BSI Kite Mark Accreditation Scheme
- QSRMC
- Effectively monitor all concrete technical aspects of a Mick George Concrete site
- Review specifications to produce Concrete Mix Designs
- Close out all technical complaints and report back to Ops Director and MD
- Report to the Concrete Board with a monthly technical report
- Monitor and maintain Air and cube sampling rates
- Discuss with admixture suppliers to understand performance of products to help engineer cost effective performance mixes
- Update Ready Minder with Mix Designs to make available for Quotes and Batching systems
- Ensure concrete plants are batching correctly by checking batch records to ensure compliance
- Assist with Cemfloor orders to reduce risk of placements and performance
- Be available for site visits when a technical complaint is received, ensuring they are logged and customer communication is maintained
- Review CUSUM data and propose changes to batch books as and when necessary
- Perform monthly admixture stock control checks
Skills & Qualifications Required:
- Valid UK driving licence (Category B or C depending on vehicle requirements)
- Previous management experience in the Concrete Industry
- Good knowledge of health and safety legislation and practice
- Knowledge of ISO9001/14001 and 45001
- Methodical and flexible in approach to tasks
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Good interpersonal skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Good project management skills
- Effective problem-solving skills
- Highly organised and ability to work in a pressurised environment
- Excellent MS Office skills
- A pro-active team member
