As a Trainee Quantity Surveyor at Mick George, you will support the commercial team in managing construction projects from start to finish. You will assist with project reporting, procurement, subcontractor accounts, and data analysis while learning from experienced Quantity Surveyors. The role also involves helping to identify and manage project risks, ensuring company procedures are followed, and supporting strong relationships with clients and suppliers. Throughout your work, you will contribute to the successful delivery of projects while promoting a safe working environment.

Responsibilities

  • Shadow day-to-day commercial control of projects.
  • Provide administrative support in administering the contract throughout the life of the project, monitoring compliance.
  • Shadow and assist management of subcontractor accounts, including change control, re-measure adjustments, and ensuring timely payments.
  • Assist in the procurement process in line with project requirements.
  • Shadow team in compiling valuations to clients and actively seek requests for payments.
  • Assist in compiling payment certificates in line with contractual requirements.
  • Assist in reporting cost and value in line with the financial timetable.
  • Raise risks, opportunities, and concerns with management at the earliest opportunity to enable collaborative discussions.
  • Compile data and records required to assist QS team.
  • Provide processing support using relevant software for commercial team.
  • Maintain client relationships.
  • Be aware of the health and safety responsibilities on site and raise items of concern with site management or senior management.
  • Always conduct themselves in a professional manner as an ambassador of Mick George Group.

Qualifications

  • Degree or NVQ in Quantity Surveying.
  • CSCS Card.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to be methodical and flexible in approach to tasks.
  • A pro-active team member.
  • Basic computer literacy (use of emails, etc.).
