Full time,260 day year-round position
Non-Union Professional, Grade 5, 8 hours per day

BROAD STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Network Administrator is responsible for the day-to-day operations and maintenance of the organization’s network infrastructure. This includes monitoring network performance, troubleshooting network issues, and implementing routine network changes.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or information technology.
  • 5 years of IT experience in an enterprise setting.
  • IT experience in an education setting preferred.
  • Strong understanding of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and routing protocols.
  • Understanding of wireless network technologies (Wi-Fi, 802.11 standards) and experience with wireless network configuration and troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages like Python, PowerShell, or Bash to automate routine tasks, analyze logs, and configure network devices.
  • Experience with network devices, such as routers, switches, and firewalls.
  • Effectively and efficiently conduct work via time management, organizational skills and attention to detail.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Monitor network performance using network monitoring tools.
  • Identify and troubleshoot network issues.
  • Respond to network alerts and outages.
  • Perform routine network maintenance tasks, such as patching, firmware upgrades, and configuration changes.
  • Maintain network documentation, including network diagrams and configuration files.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve network connectivity issues.
  • Provide technical support to end-users for network-related issues.
  • Assist in the setup and configuration of network devices, such as routers, switches, and firewalls.
  • Implement and maintain basic network security policies and procedures.
  • Monitor network traffic for security threats.
