Teacher Job Description

At GCCS, teachers focus on growing personally in their faith and modeling that walk to students. The mission is to equip students to serve and glorify God, which teachers demonstrate daily. Teachers should use research-based teaching strategies, be highly qualified, and foster an environment of strong relationships of care and respect.

Responsibilities:

Spiritual Development

  • Grow personally in faith and model this walk to students.
  • Engage in daily prayer, both individually and with staff and students.
  • Uphold the school\’s mission, vision, and biblical standards.
  • Develop and implement curriculum aligned with the school\’s mission and standards.
  • Participate in professional learning communities and curriculum development.
  • Align curriculum with biblical integration and Reformed perspectives, emphasizing Creation, Fall, Redemption, and Restoration.

Instruction

  • Differentiate instruction to meet student needs, focusing on learner-centered approaches.
  • Engage in professional development to improve instructional strategies, setting SMART goals annually.
  • Use research-based instructional strategies such as inquiry, problem-based learning, and collaborative methods.

Activities

  • Participate in supervising student activities during and after school as needed.

Communication and Professionalism

  • Maintain regular, timely, and caring communication with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Clearly communicate expectations via verbal, written, and LMS platforms.
  • Be available before and after school hours, arriving at least 20 minutes early and staying 20 minutes after.
  • Dress professionally and conduct oneself with integrity.
  • Attend professional development sessions with prior notice.
  • Arrive on time and participate fully in prayer, PLCs, and staff meetings.
  • Complete curriculum work during summers as task-oriented activities.
