Position Details: Business Manager – Central Office, first line admin, full‑time.

Reports to: Superintendent of Schools.

Salary: $55,000‑$65,000 annually based on experience.

Term of Employment: Twelve months (260 days) starting June 1 2026.

Benefits: Full Family Medical or $4,500 Cash in Lieu, Dental, Vision, LTD and Life insurance.

Posting Deadline: June 1 2026 or until filled.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business required.
  • Experience in Accounts Payable and Purchasing; background in Accounting; proficiency with Skyward Financial Software and other finance software packages.

Performance Responsibilities:

  • Assist in supervising the financial affairs of the District.
  • Assist in developing the current budget consistent with board policy.
  • Suggest ways to improve cost effectiveness of the District operation from a business operations perspective.
  • Assist in assembling long‑range financial data.
  • Establish and supervise a program of accounting adequate to detail all money and credit transactions.
  • Supervise all accounting operations.
  • Supervise all payroll activity.
  • Assist in administering a budget control/reporting system consistent with board policy.
  • Facilitate required audit of District’s fiscal activity.
  • Supervise the receipt and expenditure of District funds.
  • Provide timely reporting of income and expenditures for all funds.
  • Supervise reconciliation of all bank accounts authorized by the board.
  • Supervise preparation of purchase orders and payment of bills.
  • Assist in preparing board agenda information relative to business‑related items.
  • Provide for annual appraisal of district buildings and movable equipment.
  • Assist in publishing: (a) required annual report of fiscal activity (b) notice of budget hearing (c) truth‑in‑taxation hearing.
  • Supervise reporting of workers’ compensation claims and unemployment claims.
  • Responsible for filing reports on a timely basis with the Michigan Department of Education related to: (a) special education expenses (b) transportation (c) food service (d) FID (e) title I (f) tuition.
  • Assist the superintendent with district operations and human resources with other matters as requested.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Other responsibilities assigned from time to time as deemed necessary by the superintendent.

Terms of Employment:

  • Annual salary (June 1 2026 through June 30 2027).
  • One-year contract.

Evaluation:

A performance evaluation of this position will be done by the superintendent of schools on an annual basis.
