Michels and Taylor is now recruiting for a Regional Operations Director (South) to join our Managed Hotel division. This position will best suit a hands-on leader with experience as a Regional Operations Director/Cluster General Manager or a highly experienced General Manager from a large branded or independent hotel looking to take their career to the next step.
The ideal Regional Operations Director is commercially aware; has exceptional attention to detail along with the ability to inspire and motivate others; strives for constant improvements in all areas of the business and provides guest experience that consistently exceeds expectations. The successful applicant will already be resident in (or willing to relocate to) the south of England for the duration of their employment. Due to the geographical distribution of the potential properties, the job holder will be expected to travel extensively on business (including overnight stays).
Main Responsibilities:
- Lead and inspire the senior team within each property.
- Work with the hotel owners and the executive management team at M&T on strategy and direction for the hotels, in accordance with company goals.
- Work with M&T's existing team of specialists on new developments and planned refurbishments.
- Supported by the M&T Commercial team, coordinate with the local sales and revenue teams to ensure strategy and budgets are set and achieved.
- Work with the finance team to ensure profitable operation of all hotels, food & beverage outlets, and any other revenue streams in conjunction with agreed metrics and company goals.
- Champion team engagement, training and development.
Requirements:
- Extensive experience as Regional Operations Director/Cluster General Manager within a quality hotel environment.
- Experience of the UK hotel market including at least one of the major brands.
- Stable work background with steady career progression demonstrable.
- Experience of managing all operational departments.
- A proven background in improving and maintaining standards.
- Experience of transitioning businesses to new ownership or pre-opening hotel experience.
- Evidence of building, training, and developing a high performing team.
- Clear, timely, and direct communication at all levels.
- Ability to communicate fluently in English.
- Advanced level of written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience of leading and inspiring a team to create unforgettable guest experiences.
