Are you an experienced immigration paralegal looking for an opportunity to play a key role in a growing and ambitious team?
At Michelmores, we are looking for a dynamic, proactive and commercially minded Immigration Paralegal to join our Employment & Immigration team in London. This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual who enjoys working closely with clients, thrives in a fast-paced environment and wants to play a meaningful role in the continued growth and success of a leading immigration practice.
This is not a role for someone who simply wants to process applications. We are looking for somebody who will become an integral part of the team, helping us deliver an exceptional client experience, drive innovation, develop market-leading know-how and support the continued expansion of our immigration offering.
Why Michelmores?
Michelmores is the destination law firm for the ambitious, the imaginative and the distinctive. We help enterprises and individuals navigate change to find a positive future.
We are a flexible, friendly and inclusive organisation with as clear a focus on fresh thinking as we have on growth and success. We value and nurture our people’s potential and aspiration and give them a creative, open and collaborative environment in which to develop a career and succeed.
We believe that whatever your legal experience, you’ll find Michelmores different. From day one, we encourage our Paralegals to feel truly part of the team they support and the wider Firm. Our people are approachable and collaborative. Central to our culture is our friendly and flexible environment, which genuinely allows our people to grow and flourish, both professionally and personally. We really care about what we stand for and want to move forward, together.
Why this team?
Our Immigration team is experiencing significant growth and has ambitious plans for the future. Led by Partner Lynsey Blyth, the team advises UK and international businesses, entrepreneurs, senior executives, investors and high net worth individuals on a wide range of immigration matters. Our work spans Sponsor Licences, business immigration, global mobility, immigration compliance, family migration, settlement, British citizenship and both complex and discretionary applications.
We are increasingly trusted by high net worth and ultra-high net worth individuals who expect an exceptional level of service, responsiveness and attention to detail. Delivering that "white glove" client experience is at the heart of everything we do.
As a result of continued growth, we are looking for an Immigration Paralegal who wants to become a key member of the team and help us continue building one of the leading immigration practices in the region.
What sort of work?
This is a varied and hands-on role offering significant responsibility and client exposure. You will work closely with the Immigration team and support the delivery of high-quality immigration advice and services to both corporate and private clients.
Responsibilities will include:
- Managing and responding to new client enquiries.
- Supporting the preparation and submission of a wide range of UK immigration applications.
- Liaising directly with clients to obtain instructions, information and supporting evidence.
- Preparing draft application forms, supporting documentation and client correspondence.
- Assisting with Sponsor Licence applications, compliance matters and right to work projects.
- Monitoring application progress and managing key deadlines.
- Supporting the delivery of an exceptional client experience through proactive communication and efficient matter management.
- Attending client meetings and assisting with follow-up actions.
- Drafting articles, legal updates, marketing materials and LinkedIn content.
- Supporting networking events, business development initiatives and client relationship activities.
- Working closely with lawyers across the team to identify opportunities to improve processes and service delivery.
- Managing and developing the team's legal know-how resources, precedents and template documents. Taking ownership of updating precedents and guidance following legislative, policy and procedural changes.
- Monitoring developments in UK immigration law and ensuring the team remains informed of key changes and emerging issues.
- Supporting the team's use of AI and technology to enhance efficiency, improve workflows and develop client-facing resources.
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, commercially aware and genuinely excited about being part of a growing team. The successful candidate will be a team player who enjoys rolling up their sleeves, taking ownership and helping colleagues succeed. They will be proactive rather than reactive, highly organised and committed to delivering exceptional client service. Ideally, you will have:
- Previous experience working within an immigration team.
- Experience preparing and supporting UK immigration applications.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to build relationships with clients and colleagues at all levels.
- A proactive, solutions-focused approach to work.
- The confidence to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
- A genuine interest in business development and supporting the growth of the practice.
- A willingness to take ownership of know-how, precedents and process improvement initiatives.
- An interest in legal technology and the practical application of AI within legal services.
Most importantly, we are looking for someone who is motivated, collaborative, dependable and excited by the opportunity to help shape the future growth of the team.
How do we work?
We take a flexible, agile approach to working patterns. As a team we agree together on the best working arrangements that will enable each of us to provide exceptional client service, to collaborate and connect with colleagues, and to achieve the right home/work balance.
As a Firm we are committed to supporting our people across all levels to achieve the balance they need. We are open to talking about flexible working and empower any candidate to put forward a flexible working pattern to meet their needs.
We work hard to create and sustain an open and collaborative environment. We embrace change and constantly evolve to meet our people’s diverse needs, in the same way that we help our clients to navigate and stay ahead of developments, to move forward together.
