We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced BD Manager to join our ambitious Marketing & BD team based in our London office with travel between offices when necessary. In this role you will lead our London and international business development initiatives. This pivotal role will support the firm’s strategic growth by enhancing visibility, deepening referrer relationships, and identifying new client opportunities across key markets. This role includes line management of a BD Executive, as well as close collaboration with partners and the Marketing & BD Team.

Main responsibilities include:

  • Working with senior leaders to advise on, prepare and implement business development plans in line with the Firm's strategic objectives with a particular focus on our London and International markets.
  • Pursuing new business opportunities and developing strong relationships with referrers including accountancy firms, law firms and intermediaries operating in private wealth sector and selected international jurisdictions.
  • Providing strategic advice to partners on their individual marketing strategies to grow existing work streams and generate new work streams.
  • Line manage and coach the London based Business Development Executive.
  • Assisting the Relationship Executive in developing relevant client plans.
  • Developing the annual BD budgets, manage spend and advice on the best use of the budget to deliver maximum ROI.
  • Project manage marketing and BD campaigns which create opportunities to develop effective relationships with clients, referrers and prospects – identify potential opportunities, conduct market research, develop the campaign, execute and follow-up.
  • Horizon scan and develop a good understanding of your allocated markets/sectors/services.
  • Network in relevant markets, develop opportunities and make introductions to lawyers.
  • Working collaboratively with others in the Marketing and BD team to ensure client/referrer conversations and marketing communications reflect market and sector trends and insights.
  • Assisting the wider Marketing and BD team with a range of key marketing activities, such as events, legal directories submissions, award entries, press and PR opportunities, pitches, presentations, social media and website content.

Through developing innovative marketing and BD strategies and working closely with Partners and colleagues to implement them, the Marketing team plays an instrumental role in progressing the growth of the Firm. The team covers the full range of marketing and BD activities, including creating marketing strategies and plans, managing our brand and social profile, producing content and marketing materials, organising and running client and Firm events, building networks, helping lawyers to develop deeper client relationships, and developing colleagues’ marketing and networking skills.

Our BD specialists partner with leaders across the Firm’s markets to identify growth and marketing opportunities, building strong working relationships and in-depth market knowledge. Whilst the communication and events professionals utilise their creativity and specialist skills to amplify our brand to help attract and retain clients.

We are looking for somebody who will understand our values and thrive in our culture. The role will be based in our London office. The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience of working in professional services.
  • Experience of managing people.
  • Experience of working and collaborating with senior stakeholders.
  • 5+ years of relevant marketing and BD experience.
  • Degree qualified desirable.
  • Demonstrable project management and/or account management skills are desirable.
  • Proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and CRM.

  • Robust and confident in challenging the status quo and suggesting alternative approaches.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Flexible and organised – able to juggle multiple deadlines and changing priorities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; effective communicator at all levels (written and verbal).

  • A team player – helpful and prepared to go the extra mile in supporting colleagues.
  • Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal.
  • Proactive, committed and positive in approach to work.
  • Desire to provide high levels of service, ensuring work is of high quality and right first time.
