What sort of work

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Bids Executive to join our ambitious Marketing team in our Bristol or Exeter office. This will be a full-time position. In this role you will support the Firm in winning new business by working with the Bids Manager to deliver the bids, pitches and proposals process successfully. This will include:

  • Developing a thorough understanding of Michelmores' culture, mission and service offering.
  • Project managing the end-to-end bids and pitch process.
  • Working with the lead lawyer and wider bid team to develop a winning strategy, highlighting our value proposition.
  • Writing compelling copy in line with our tone of voice.
  • Contributing to proposal pricing.
  • Completing pre-qualification and selection questionnaires.
  • Preparing lawyers for proposal-related interviews.
  • Gathering feedback to drive continuous improvement.
  • Producing bids-related analysis and reporting.
  • Maintaining data and content libraries.
  • Logging activity on our CRM system.

Through developing innovative marketing and business development strategies and working closely with Partners and colleagues to implement them, the Marketing & Business Development team plays a direct role in progressing the growth of the Firm. The team covers the full range of marketing and business development activities, including creating marketing strategies and plans, managing our brand and social profile, producing content and marketing materials, organising and running client and Firm events, managing proposals and bids, helping lawyers to develop deeper client relationships, and developing colleagues’ marketing and networking skills.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for someone who will live our values and thrive in our culture. The position is based in our Bristol or Exeter office and the ideal candidate will have:

  • 5+ years of proposal writing experience, including credentials, pitches and more formal tender documents.
  • Experience of, and enthusiasm for, developing the use of MS Copilot in preparing credentials, pitches and proposals, and building aligned data and content libraries.
  • Experience of building relationships and collaborating with senior stakeholders.
  • Experience of working in professional services is highly desirable.
  • Experience of contributing to proposal pricing approaches is desirable.
  • Proficiency with MS Office including Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel and Word.
  • Good experience of formal tender processes.

Other skills required include:

  • Ability to take and issue project briefs without further supervision.
  • Confident in challenging the status quo and suggesting alternative approaches.
  • Excellent listener and communicator at all levels (both written and spoken).
  • Ability to deliver complex submissions to deadline.
  • Flexible and organised - able to juggle multiple deadlines and changing priorities.
  • Desire to provide outstanding levels of service, ensuring work is of high quality and right first time.
  • A team player – prepared to go the extra mile in supporting colleagues.
  • Proactive, and committed, with a positive approach.
