What sort of work? Right now, our highly regarded Real Estate Group is looking for an experienced Managing Associate with interest and experience in the Energy sector to join our growing team. This position offers a real opportunity to progress your career in a supportive team environment. The work will include:
- Acting for key developer clients and landowner clients in the Energy sector across various asset types
- Supporting our corporate and commercial Energy teams in relation to portfolio acquisitions, disposals and financing
- Assisting in the strategic growth of the firm's Energy sector
Why this team? Our Transactional Real Estate team is a leading real estate team operating across all offices and including many lawyers named as leading individuals in Chambers and Partners. The team has seen significant growth in Energy sector instructions and new clients across various asset types (in particular ground and rooftop solar, BESS and wind). The team also works closely with our corporate and commercial teams providing real estate support to significant energy investment funds and managers on corporate acquisitions, disposals and secured lending.

Who are we looking for? We are looking for somebody who will understand our values and thrive in our culture. We are looking for an ambitious and commercially astute lawyer, who has gained broad experience in property energy sector work and who is now looking to develop their expertise further and help to grow the firm's offering on Energy projects. The role could be based from either our Exeter or Bristol offices. The ideal candidate will have:
- At least 7+ PQE in a commercial real estate practice with significant experience gained in the Energy sector.
- A genuine interest in promoting business development opportunities and an ability to build effective and positive relationships with clients and colleagues that embrace the importance of trust and collaboration.
Other skills required include:
- Strong interpersonal skills; effective communicator at all levels (written and verbal).
- A commercial, pro‑active and professional approach to work.
- Excellent organisational skills, demonstrable examples of multi‑tasking and an ability to juggle competing priorities.
- Must interact well with others in a sensitive and effective way - a team player.
- Must be self‑motivated, committed to working towards goals with strong enthusiasm and career commitment.
- Understand the importance of confidentiality and use of discretion.
- Must be flexible, successfully adapting to changing demands and conditions.
- Demonstrate self‑confidence, initiative and be an innovative thinker.
