Michelmersh Brick Holdings are looking for an enthusiastic and committed individual to join our team at our Romsey (Hampshire) plant as a Maintenance Fitter.
Responsibilities:
- Reporting directly to the Maintenance Manager whilst being integrated into a team of fully skilled engineers.
- Report to breakdowns, including mechanical/hydraulic/pneumatics failures as a priority to ensure plant uptime is kept at a premium and production targets are maintained.
- Assist in the analysis of breakdowns to establish root cause and implement corrective action.
- Contribute towards the PPM system ensuring proactive checks are completed on time.
- Overhaul, manufacture, repair, and refurbish parts and equipment in the onsite maintenance workshop outside of breakdowns and PPMs.
- Fulfil parts requisitions on completion of work to ensure stock levels are retained, minimizing downtime.
- Assist with ongoing project work (e.g., new equipment installation/factory improvements).
- Liaise with colleagues on different shift patterns, handing over work and reporting issues.
- Undertake reasonable training requests to improve performance and capabilities.
- Maintain high levels of compliance with health and safety standards whilst performing duties.
- Flexibility to occasionally work outside of shift pattern when cover is required.
- Follow the company Lock Off Tag Out Try Out procedure at all times.
- Complete all shift work instructions and maintain the report book accordingly.
- Assist with the compiling of risk assessments and SPTW, and adhere to all active procedures.
- Monitor and provide mechanical support for machine set-ups and changeovers to ensure products conform to quality assurance standards and changeovers are efficient.
- Provide maintenance shift cover when required.
- Keep a company radio on at all times to ensure quick response to breakdowns.
- Undertake reasonable requests made during working hours.
- Maintenance personnel are expected to work during shutdown periods; holidays are to be authorised by the manager.
Qualifications:
- Formal qualification(s) in mechanical engineering (Apprenticeship, NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, BTEC, degree or similar).
- 3+ years experience working in a mechanical position.
- Experience servicing/repairing components.
- Conveyors, motor & gearbox servicing/experience.
- Good competency with hydraulic & pneumatics.
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings.
- Ability to weld, grind and use oxygen/acetylene equipment.
- Previous experience in a manufacturing environment is advantageous.

- Electrical experience.
- Forklift license is preferable but not essential.
