An established and growing recruitment business is looking for an ambitious Senior Recruitment Consultant or experienced Recruitment Consultant to join its expanding construction recruitment operation. This is an excellent opportunity for an established fee-earning recruiter looking for more autonomy, increased earning potential and the opportunity to progress into a senior management position.
You will take ownership of an existing warm recruitment desk, benefiting from established client relationships, candidate networks and business opportunities. Rather than starting from scratch, you will have an existing platform to develop, expand and make your own. The business is particularly interested in someone with the ambition to grow a construction recruitment division, increase market share and potentially progress into a Head of Construction Recruitment role.
The Role
You will manage and develop an established construction recruitment desk, building on existing client relationships while identifying new business opportunities across the construction industry. There is flexibility to develop the desk across both blue-collar trades recruitment and white-collar professional construction recruitment, depending on your experience and market knowledge.
You will manage the full 360 recruitment process, including business development, client acquisition, vacancy management, candidate sourcing, interviewing, negotiation, placement and account management. You will have the autonomy to develop your specialist market, increase revenue and build long-term relationships with construction businesses, contractors and developers. As the division grows, you will have the opportunity to mentor other consultants, take on additional responsibility and help shape the future construction recruitment strategy.
Construction Recruitment Markets
- Experience across either blue-collar or white-collar construction recruitment would be advantageous.
- Trades / Blue Collar Recruitment: Construction Labourers, Groundworkers, Electricians, Plumbers, Pipefitters, Bricklayers, Carpenters, Joiners, Plasterers, Roofers, Welders, Steel Fixers, Painters and Decorators, Plant Operators and Skilled Trades.
- Professional / White Collar Recruitment: Quantity Surveyors, Project Managers, Contracts Managers, Construction Managers, Site Managers, Site Engineers, Civil Engineers, Design Engineers, Estimators, Commercial Managers, Planning Engineers, Health and Safety Professionals, Building Surveyors, Architects and Technical Managers.
Additional markets include Civil Engineering, Infrastructure, Groundworks, Housebuilding, Residential and Commercial Construction, Building Services, M&E, Property and Facilities Management. There is scope to expand into additional construction disciplines and develop a specialist recruitment market around your existing experience.
Experience Required
We are looking for an experienced Recruitment Consultant, Senior Recruitment Consultant, Principal Recruitment Consultant or Managing Recruitment Consultant with a proven fee-earning track record within a recruitment agency. Construction recruitment experience is highly desirable, particularly across trades, labour supply, civil engineering, building services or professional construction recruitment. However, we will also consider successful recruiters from related sectors including Engineering, Manufacturing, Technical, Industrial, Facilities Management and Property recruitment who are interested in developing a construction recruitment desk.
You will need a proven ability to generate recruitment fees, win new business, develop client relationships and manage the full recruitment lifecycle. You should be commercially minded, self-motivated and confident managing your own desk, with the ambition to build a profitable recruitment business and progress your career.
Career Progression
This opportunity offers genuine scope to progress beyond an individual billing position. Initially, your focus will be on developing the existing warm desk, increasing revenue and expanding client relationships. As the construction division grows, you will have the opportunity to take on greater responsibility, mentor and support additional consultants and contribute to the wider business strategy.
For the right individual, there is potential to progress into Head of Construction Recruitment, with responsibility for developing the division, expanding into new markets and building and leading a recruitment team. This would suit an ambitious Senior Recruitment Consultant or Principal Consultant who is ready for the next step into recruitment leadership.
Salary, Commission & Benefits
The package includes a competitive basic salary depending on experience, an attractive uncapped commission structure and excellent earning potential. You will benefit from an established warm desk, existing client relationships, recruitment systems and infrastructure, flexible hybrid working, ongoing support and training, and genuine long-term career progression.
Location
The position offers flexibility to work from the business's North Yorkshire, South Yorkshire or West Yorkshire offices, combining office and home working. Candidates based in Leeds, Sheffield, York, Bradford, Wakefield, Doncaster, Barnsley, Rotherham, Harrogate and surrounding Yorkshire areas are encouraged to apply.
