The Marketing and Events Manager will lead MSIP’s events and marketing activities, ensuring exceptional customer experiences and strengthening the organisation’s brand and profile.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Marketing and Events Manager will play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality events and implementing MSIP’s marketing activities.
Reporting to the Innovation and Marketing Director, this role will ensure that MSIP’s events and Innovation Hub facility delivers exceptional customer experience while supporting the organisation’s brand, profile, and engagement objectives. The postholder will oversee customer experience in the Innovation Hub, lead the delivery of MSIP’s annual events programme, and deliver day-to-day marketing activities to support the strategic Marketing and Communications plan.
This is a hands-on, customer-facing role that requires strong organisational skills, creative flair, and the ability to work collaboratively across teams to promote MSIP’s position as a leading centre for sustainable innovation.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The postholder will lead on customer engagement in the Innovation Hub, ensuring high customer service and presentation standards. They will lead the planning and delivery of MSIP’s events programme, from initial enquiry and supplier liaison to on-the-day coordination and follow-up, ensuring smooth logistics and excellent attendee experiences.
Working with the Innovation and Marketing Director, they will be responsible for delivering operational marketing activities, including social media scheduling, website updates, campaign execution, content creation, email marketing, and media liaison. The role will also involve producing marketing materials, coordinating photography and videography, and supporting the development of marketing assets for events, programmes, and stakeholder engagement.
The Marketing and Events Manager will work closely with internal teams and external partners to ensure all events and marketing outputs are delivered to a high standard, on time, and in line with MSIP’s brand values.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICAITONS:
Essential
- Strong organisational and project management skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Experience in delivering operational marketing activities (e.g. social media, email marketing, website updates, content creation).
- Experience in contributing towards the delivery of events.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and key marketing tools including Canva, Wordpress, and Business Suite.
- Problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing priorities.
Desirable
- Proven experience in event management, from planning to delivery.
- Experience in leading on customer experience.
- Knowledge of the innovation, technology, or sustainability sectors.
- Experience working with external suppliers such as caterers, AV teams, and designers.
- Knowledge of project management systems (e.g. Monday.com).
- Graphic design or video editing skills.
Experience
- 3–5 years’ experience in events, marketing, or a combined role.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Experience in client-facing roles with a track record of building strong relationships.
This role will require flexibility to meet the needs of events and marketing activities, including occasional evening and weekend work. The postholder may also be asked to support additional projects and activities that align with MSIP’s strategic priorities. A proactive, creative, and adaptable approach will be essential to succeed in this role and contribute to MSIP’s growth and reputation.
BENEFITS:
A salary in the range of £35,000 - £45,000 will be available subject to experience.
You will get thirty-three holidays per annum (including public holidays).
MSIP can accommodate flexible working arrangements as and when business patterns allow.
