THE ROLE IN SHORT: Define and drive the strategy for test automation across the organisation, designing, implementing and maintaining appropriate test automation frameworks that suit the needs of the business. Ensure test automation best practice is followed, empowering and supporting teams in the evolution and maintenance of robust test automation suites.
WHAT WILL I BE DOING:
- Lead test automation activities across all squads
- Lead the Test Automation Core Team (Enabling Team)
- Provide leadership and coordination across a hybrid onshore–offshore team
- Line manage members of the development team, coaching and supporting their professional growth
- Define, implement and maintain suitable functional and non-functional test automation frameworks
- Drive strategy for implementing test automation best practice in squads
- Evaluate and champion appropriate test tools
- Harness evolving AI capabilities to drive efficiency
- Contribute to the definition and maintenance of suitable test automation environments
- Drive implementation of efficient test automation within CI/CD pipelines
- Gather metrics and report on KPI’s, using data to shape and deliver ongoing improvements
- Contribute to the Test Leadership Team to continually evolve Quality practices across the organisation
- Maintain knowledge of the latest developments across the industry, championing valuable evolution of processes and tools
TO BE SUCCESSFUL YOU WILL LIKELY HAVE:
- 5-10 years experience in test automation
- Hands-on experience automating test suites and building full-stack test automation frameworks for large teams in an Agile environment
- Strong practical experience working with test automation tools, such as Selenium and Playwright
- Strong knowledge of software development languages, including Java
- Practical understanding of AI capabilities and limitations within a software development context
- Professional certifications such as ISTQB, CSTE or CSQA
- Strong communication, collaboration and leadership skills
- Able to mentor and coach Test Engineers, collaborate with cross-functional teams, coordinate testing activities across multiple squads, and lead QA efforts in a complex, enterprise-scale environment
