The E-Commerce Manager is a senior leadership role accountable for developing and executing the end-to-end e-commerce strategy across Protyre.co.uk, TyreClick, and all digital sales channels, driving both online and in-store revenue growth within the Group’s retail business. Reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer, this role owns omnichannel integration, blending digital acquisition with physical store footfall to deliver a seamless customer journey.
The job holder works in close partnership with the Protyre Retail Director and Pricing Team to optimize pricing, promotions, and product availability across channels. With a creative and entrepreneurial mindset, the role proactively identifies new revenue streams, tests innovative digital models, and stays ahead of e-commerce trends inside and outside the automotive sector. The E-Commerce Manager leads one direct report (E-Commerce Executive), fostering a high-support, high-challenge environment to deliver agile, data-driven results.
The job holder is accountable for growing online sales, increasing digital-to-store conversion, and enhancing customer lifetime value through personalized, omnichannel experiences. They own the e-commerce P&L, manage platform performance (conversion rate, AOV, abandonment), and ensure full integration with retail operations, pricing strategy, and marketing campaigns. The role drives continuous innovation in UX/UI, checkout flow, and post-purchase engagement, while maintaining compliance with GDPR, PCI DSS, and ASA standards. Monthly reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer and Retail Leadership Team includes performance insights, opportunity identification, and ROI evaluation.
We’re looking for E-Commerce Manager, you will lead the multi-year digital roadmap across Protyre.co.uk, TyreClick, and emerging platforms. You’ll drive omni channel revenue, optimize user experience, champion data-led decision making, and shape the future of how customers interact with our brand online.
Your Responsibilities:
- Own E-Commerce Strategy & Roadmap: Define and deliver a multi-year vision for e-commerce growth across Protyre.co.uk, TyreClick and future digital channels. Present annual strategy proposals to the Chief Commercial Officer and Retail Leadership Team.
- Drive Omni channel Revenue Growth: Partner with the Protyre Retail Director to increase digital-to-store traffic and in-store-to-online conversions. Implement geo-targeted promotions, enhance store locator functionality, and introduce real-time stock visibility.
- Optimise Platform Performance & UX: Lead continuous improvement of website performance, checkout flows and mobile experience. Drive A/B testing, heatmapping (e.g., Hotjar), and user research to reduce abandonment and improve engagement.
- Align Pricing & Promotions: Work closely with the Pricing Team to ensure competitive and dynamic pricing across channels. Execute flash sales, bundle offers and loyalty incentives that support margin and conversion growth.
- Lead Innovation & Trend Adoption: Research and pilot new e-commerce models such as tyre subscriptions, live commerce or AR fitment tools. Benchmark against category leaders (e.g., Halfords, Amazon, AO.com) and stay ahead of industry trends via RetailX, Shopify, BigCommerce and key digital events.
- Manage & Develop an E-Commerce Executive: Set clear objectives, delegate platform updates and reporting tasks, and provide weekly coaching. Build a high-support, high-challenge culture that promotes ownership, innovation and problem-solving.
- Champion Data-Led Decision Making: Use Google Analytics, Hotjar, CRM and e-commerce reporting tools to monitor funnel performance, revenue drivers and ROI. Produce monthly data-driven performance insights for the Chief Commercial Officer with clear recommendations.
- Ensure Compliance & Security: Maintain adherence to GDPR, PCI DSS, ASA advertising guidelines and WCAG 2.1 accessibility standards. Oversee the security and integrity of our e-commerce platforms and customer data.
- Influence & Report: Deliver monthly e-commerce performance reports to the Chief Commercial Officer and Retail Leadership Team. Use data storytelling and customer insights to secure cross-functional alignment and budget for growth initiatives.
What We're Looking for From You:
- Proven experience managing and growing an e-commerce platform, ideally in a retail or service-based environment.

About Our Company: Micheldever Tyre Services (MTS) was founded in 1972 as a part-time venture providing car servicing and tyres. Today, Micheldever Group is the fastest growing wholesaler, distributor and retailer of tyres in the UK, selling six million tyres nationwide, (20 percent of the total UK market) and employing approximately 2100 employees - company wide. To support this business, we have built a wholesale distribution network of 14 sites around the UK supplying over 6,000 retailers and our own retail chain Protyre which is consistently growing. This is achieved by skilled, focused and determined teams across 1 central distribution and 13 warehouse operations nationwide.
