The Retail Operations & Compliance Manager support is a specialist role that strengthens operational governance across Protyre Autocentres. Reporting directly to the Head of Retail Operations, this role provides dedicated expertise in health & safety compliance, stock control and accuracy, invoice discrepancy management, warehouse layout & management (including H&S considerations for storing tyres & parts, and the goods in & out process), Standard Operating Procedure content, banking query resolution, and centre compliance training and support. The role aims to deliver specialist focus on compliance and risk management, reducing operational workload on Area Managers, allowing them to concentrate on commercial performance, coaching, and results. The Retail Operations & Compliance Manager support is tasked with Improving consistency, audit readiness, and governance standards across all centres The Retail Operations & Compliance Manager works closely with Centre Managers and Area Managers to ensure every site operates safely, compliantly, and efficiently, while enabling front-line teams to focus on exceptional customer experience, commercial delivery and implementation of Standard Operating Procedures in line with ever evolving requirements.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Deliver a continuous improvement programme to support satisfactory stock audit results and improved stock accuracy
  • Support banking & invoicing compliance and prompt resolution of invoice discrepancies across centres
  • Promote system excellence through extended induction, training support, and consistent ways of working
  • Ensure retail-wide understanding and acknowledgement of evolving Standard Operating Procedures
  • Support effective management of MOT-related risk, compliance, records, and escalation
  • Promote a strong health and safety culture through visible leadership, safe working practices, and follow-up actions
  • Improve productivity and equipment utilisation by supporting operational readiness and effective use of resources

RESPONSIBILITES:

Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance

  • Ensure all centres in the area maintain full compliance with health & safety legislation, environmental regulations, and Protyre policies
  • Conduct regular H&S audits, inspections, and risk assessments across sites
  • Support centres with the implementation and monitoring of safe systems of work, COSHH, fire safety, and environmental controls
  • Coach centres how to Investigate incidents, near misses, and RIDDOR-reportable events; ensure timely reporting and effective corrective actions
  • Drive a positive safety culture through coaching, visibility, and recognition of good practice

Audit, Inspection Programme

  • Plan and deliver a risk-based programme of compliance audits and inspections across the area
  • Review centre compliance performance data and identify trends or areas requiring intervention
  • Work with Centre Managers and Area Managers to close gaps and improve audit scores over time
  • Support external audits and regulatory inspections as required
  • Maintain accurate records of audits, actions, and evidence of compliance
  • Maintain reporting of heavy equipment and small tools / assets and ensure centres are operationally sufficient when raising out of action equipment
  • Brand Standards (Rebrand)
  • Identify, assess, and help mitigate key compliance and operational risks across the area
  • Provide timely advice and support to centres on emerging risks, new legislation, or incidents
  • Support business continuity and emergency preparedness planning at centre level
  • Escalate significant risks or issues to the appropriate central or regional leadership
  • Monitor and drive stock control and accuracy across centres in the area
  • Investigate and resolve invoice discrepancies in a timely and accurate manner
  • Oversee stock control processes and ensure robust stock checking procedures are followed
  • Resolve banking queries and support centres with related financial compliance matters
  • Work with central teams to identify root causes of recurring issues and implement preventive controls

Centre Compliance Training & Capability Support

  • Deliver and coordinate compliance training and support to Centre Managers and their teams
  • Build local capability so centres can maintain day‑to‑day compliance independently
  • Provide practical, hands‑on support during audits, investigations, and improvement initiatives
  • Share best practice and lessons learned across the area to drive consistent high standards
  • Support post induction / continued induction for system excellence.
  • Coach Centre Managers and team members on compliance responsibilities and best practice
  • Contribute to the design and delivery of compliance content for the Protyre Academy
  • Ensure Standard Operating Procedures are acknowledged and understood and encourage feedback culture through the relevant channels

Brand & Customer Value advocate

  • Champion Protyre brand standards across all centres, ensuring customer‑facing areas, signage, uniforms, and presentation consistently reflect the expected brand image
  • Support Centre Managers in identifying opportunities to improve the customer journey, from first contact through to vehicle handover
  • Use customer feedback, complaints, reviews, and centre observations to highlight trends and drive practical improvement actions
  • Coach teams to deliver consistent service behaviours that build trust, confidence, and long‑term customer value and implement associated Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Promote best practice across the retail network by sharing examples of strong customer service, brand compliance, and commercial standards
