The predicted salary is between 57000 - 76000 £ per year.
You will be accountable for the delivery of the building services engineering (mechanical, electrical, ventilation and specialist systems), whilst liaising with the client, main contractor and consultants. You will provide engineering expertise through the analysis and development of the design in conjunction with appointed trade contractors, and through the development of technical strategies that support high-quality, time-efficient and profitable project delivery. You will be responsible for project compliance, governance and assurance, and for managing and coaching teams of technical staff.
You’ll be responsible for:
- Directing the MEP engineering aspects within the project team, demonstrating professional and respectful behaviours and ensuring compliance with company and project standards.
- Being accountable for the engineering aspects of the MEP services and supporting the management of programme, health, safety and wellbeing, quality and commissioning.
- Liaising and coordinating with key project stakeholders, forming strong working relationships with the client, consultants, trade contractors and other team members.
- Providing technical support to the tendering process through bid teams and bid leads.
- Providing technical input into procurement strategies and ensuring specialist packages and appointments are procured against agreed scope demarcation and within budget.
- Undertaking initial reviews of contracts and scope, value engineering, schedules and trade contracts, and supporting commercial teams throughout the project lifecycle by reviewing progress and resolving issues.
- Creating and deploying project technical plans aligned with the company operating framework and strategic priorities, including prefabrication, commissioning and safety.
- Undertaking design reviews of information provided by consultants and trade specialists, checking for compliance, coordination and completeness, including embodied carbon and operational energy associated with the MEP services design. A strong understanding and implementation of relevant design frameworks is essential.
- Preparing and coordinating the delivery of strategies and programmes for all phases of the project, ensuring key milestones, interfaces, dependencies, logistics and work sequencing are properly considered.
- Developing and implementing commissioning strategies in line with recognised commissioning standards, including IST approaches, ATPs and soft landings.
- Undertaking productivity assessments using digital technologies to ensure packages remain on programme, identifying trends, key issues and critical path risks.
- Managing project close-out to ensure all elements of completion are delivered to a high standard, including commissioning, as-built drawings, O&M manuals and client training, with proactive risk identification and mitigation planning.
- Recommending continuous improvement and contributing to lessons learned through structured knowledge-sharing processes.
- Working collaboratively towards net zero carbon objectives and sharing responsibility for the proactive identification and management of carbon emissions and reductions during project delivery.
You’ll need to have:
- Advanced knowledge of engineering systems including design standards and frameworks, installation techniques, best practice, engineering processes, prefabrication and commissioning requirements, sufficient to manage projects from tender through to completion.
- Strong knowledge of construction build elements, sequencing and dependencies, enabling effective coordination with other work packages.
- Strong knowledge of planning processes and project controls, including critical path, construction release requirements, scheduling and commissioning activities from pre-construction through to practical completion.
- Strong commercial awareness, including procurement processes, change control, programme impact, risk management, cost to complete and forecasting.
- Advanced knowledge of health, safety and welfare, including working at height, electrical safety, fire safety, logistics and lifting operations.
- Advanced knowledge of quality assurance processes and the commissioning of both individual systems and fully integrated building systems, including BMS and IST integration.
You’ll also have:
- Experience delivering projects with MEP values in excess of £25m.
- Experience within the relevant construction sector.
- A proven track record of successful project delivery or significant contribution.
- Proficiency in building services or a specific engineering discipline.
