The Company
Our client is an established and highly respected main contractor with a long-standing presence in the UK construction market. They have built an excellent reputation for quality delivery, strong client focus, and successfully executing complex projects. Recognised as a trusted contractor within London’s commercial office sector, they deliver a wide range of schemes including structural alterations, cut & carve projects, and high-end landlord and end-user fit outs. In addition to their strong commercial portfolio, they have successfully delivered projects across healthcare, retail, leisure, and education sectors, with contract values ranging from £1m to £60m. A significant proportion of their workload is secured through repeat business and recommendation, reflecting their commitment to building long-term relationships and consistently high standards of delivery. The business promotes a collaborative, accountable, and people-focused culture, offering clear progression pathways, structured development, and a strong emphasis on work-life balance.
The Role – Planner
Due to continued growth, our client is seeking a Planner to join their established team. This opportunity is suited to an experienced Planner, a strong Assistant Planner ready to step up, or a Senior Planner comfortable operating in a hands-on, collaborative environment. Programming responsibility sits within the wider project teams — Project Directors and delivery teams are actively involved in programme ownership. The Planner therefore plays a key supporting and value-adding role: strengthening tender submissions, enhancing live project controls, and supporting larger or more complex schemes where additional planning expertise is required. This is an excellent opportunity for a Planner who enjoys working collaboratively rather than operating in isolation and who is comfortable influencing project teams while maintaining a practical, solutions-led approach.
Key Responsibilities
- Tender Stage:
- Develop, review and enhance tender programmes using Asta Powerproject.
- Work closely with bid teams, estimators, and Project Directors to build robust and logical construction sequences.
- Contribute to methodology development and phasing strategies.
- Identify risks, constraints and opportunities within proposed programmes.
- Support client-facing programme discussions where required.
- Review and develop construction programmes alongside delivery teams.
- Provide support on larger or more complex projects (£10m+).
- Assist Project Directors who require additional programming input.
- Monitor progress, track key milestones and advise on mitigation strategies.
- Support change management and programme impact assessments.
- Maintain clear communication with project teams to ensure programme accuracy and ownership.
About You
- Experience within Fit Out or Refurbishment (commercial preferred, but other sectors such as hotels or residential fit out backgrounds also considered).
- Currently operating as a Planner, Senior Planner, or a strong Assistant Planner ready for progression.
- Strong working knowledge of Asta Powerproject (essential).
- Experience working on projects typically ranging from £1m – £60m.
- Comfortable operating in a collaborative environment where programming is a shared responsibility.
- Strong communication skills — able to engage confidently with senior delivery teams.
- Detail-oriented with strong logical planning capability.
- Proactive, accountable and solutions-focused.
- Strong work ethic with a collaborative and honest approach.
